I just got off the phone with Moble about their Moble 1 gear lub.
The Honda owners manual states that use of any third party lubs could damage the O rings on the chain due to possible solvents used in the product.
Moble contends that there are no solvents in their gear lub and that it is perfectly safe for use on motorcycle chains. The representive also told me that HD also, cautioned use of third party lubricants and that Moble is happy to note that they have had contact with thousands of motorcyclest using Moble 1 products for all their lubrication with no reports of damage to their scoots.
What prompted me to do this investigation is the fact that I use Moble 1 synthetic oil in my vehicles and after reading closely the owners manual Honda marketing apparently tried to scare owners into buying their lub. I've had it in the crank and wanted to do the chain with it as well, now I can with confidance.
