1st real mod I've made to this bike, 6 hours later and it's complete. not as bad as I thought it would be. Gotta admit though the first time rejetting a carb was really freakin nerve racking .took a minute to figure out I had to do the scar mod too. Something about cutting up pieces that you can't put back together bothers me.But, everything fit pretty damm good and looks fuckin great .
1st ride and I could tell alot better response and I think alot more shit & git. Anybody wants to give their VTX1300 a kick, this seems to be a good way to do it.By the way, If I can install this thing, anybody can.:drink: Now its time for a guiness to reward myself!

well first off i'm gonna move your thread over to the VTX section. there are several of us on here that own them now.

second, NO PIC = NO BIKE... so post up some damn pics.

third, and most important.... FUCK OFF NOOB WITH YOUR NEW HYPERCHARGER..... and welcome.

hey what jet kit did you use or did you just do the scar mod. reason i asked is because i just installed a Arlen Ness Big Sucker with a dyno jet kit. right now i'm running a 195 jet, on the third notch of the needle & 2.5 turns on the air/fuel screw. it idles fine but doesnt wanna take the gas when i first get on it in 1st gear. i think i need the 58 slow to help it better. probably gonna end up ordering the factory pro kit.

Woody, first of all a great big FUCK YOU thank you for the welcoming comments.
Pictures will be comming soon!
The unit I installed was the Pro -R model for cobra pipes. It came complete with #65 pilot jet,#185 main and a .8 shim. They really took the guesswork out of it.I didn't need to adjust the air/fuel screw either. The only reason I did the scar mod was because of the shim, otherwise it was pretty much right out of the box.
The difference in how well the bike breaths is fuckin amazing. Not sure on milage gain or lost yet, but don't really care either. Not a pop, sputter or backfire yet .

To install, I didn't remove the tank, just propped it up. Once the plug covers were off I was able to get the stock airbox out. The carb rejet was surprisingly streightforward. I removed the top of carb w/small right angle ratcheting screwdriver so I didn't have to pull the tank.Watched videos on you tube and followed what he did. Same for the scar mod. Amazing what you can learn to do.
The only issue w/install was installing the plastic elbows into the metal units. You should definatly chase out the threads w/a 3/8 tap before you try screwing in the elbows, cause they just strip right out then you have to recut the threads..
The only other thing is the unit is alot bigger than stock airbox and rubs againts yer leg (not in a good way). But after a couple miles you get used to it and it's well worth the trade off.

yea i took my tank off just to get it out of the way. i couldnt dial my jet kit in so i re-installed the factory stuff & did the Scar Mod last night. bike runs great, that damn Big Sucker just sucks huge amounts of air. you can hear it everytime you twist the throttle.

so continue to FUCK OFF.... and get those pics up soon. i wanna see how it looks. gonna try & get some of mine with the air kit on it up tonight.

Woody -

I haven't rejetted mine yet (still trying to track down a &^@*!! coolant leak) but when I did my VT750 I had the same flat spot before i changed out the slow jet. Go FP on the jet kit, that seems to be the consensus.

As much as I hate to lose the ride, I want to start the modding and find my coolant issue, so I'll be tearing mine apart shortly, pull the motor, do the valves, drill out, tap, and put a thread insert in one of my spark plug holes (nicely cross threaded by the ASSHOLE LYING SCUM I bought the bike from, check the cylinders & rings... eventually put it back together and paint the engine. I already desmogged and installed block off plates, got rid of all that shit under the tank, and am going to put on an extended clutch arm, better springs, the Spyker mod, and drill the exhaust until I can spring for the Hard Krome 3" straights in black.

PenisCON - Fuck the fuck off and welcome to the nuthouse you DarkXide no pictures noob!

Pics & Price? You know my dilemma - like riding behind one but hate the looks. The quick disconnect could be just the ticket.
