Was wondering if you owners considered the 1300 or the 1800 to be like a Super Shadow, that is to say, everything the Shadows just cant be from the factory, or , do you all just want the power and size the bigger bikes have to offer?

I ask because quite frankly, those are ugly damn bikes...:grin: (or I ask because quite frankly, they are the same style as the Aeros and the ACE before them, but around that motor, it looks dated, and bland)

voodoo for me the selling point was the power & the comfort of the ride. it fely like my SS was straining trying to reach 70 & 80 mph zone where with the X, its nothing to reach those & cruising at that speed is very easy. yes the X is a heavier bike but for me, i have no problem throwing it around in corners like i did my SS. i've never road the 1800 but i can attest to the power & torque coming from the 1300 & its awesome.

yes you can slam it & chop it just like any other bike. a little limited on the rear though when it comes to the bike tire set up. unless you either have a ton of money or access to a good machine shop.

MORE POWER! I had done every possible performance mod to my Aero, and whenever I took it on an all-day ride, I was hoping for a sixth gear (which is an impossible dream)... I would have stuck with it and perhaps added a larger bike for trips - but I totalled it... the 1300 just seemed like I said earlier - a giant Aero. I want to be able to throw a bunch of crap in bags and on the back and go...

My selling point is now, and always will be, the motor. The look of the motor, the sound of the motor, that motor on my VuDu is what MOTORCYCLE sounds like to me.

The Aero is exactly what Honda would do to a perfectly fine ride like the ACE. They made a mistake in my mind when they decided to do away with the chain driven ACE models, but that makes them pretty rare around here anyways. And it makes them cheaper simply because they are not Spirits.

The chain driven 1100 Spirit . My kingdom for that bike. longshot Drag pipes, 13 inch apes, a profiler gunfighter seat and a slammed ass end, shoot man couldnt nothing touch the STYLE of that bike...much like the ACE...

In truth, I would love to have the 1800 bike, because we have here in Tyler a dude that only does work on 1800 and does the entire switch around for around a grand. That is a bad ass bike guys, I cant wait to see the end result...!!

The bike itself looks nice, it looks exactly as a honda should, but there in lies the problem...pre 2002, did you ever consider going into the auto parts store to buy a k n air filter for an accord? when it was in the car, it looked cheap and just bulky, like it was kinda apollo 13'd together...

All I can say is, for me, once I rode the X there was no going back. I felt like a shriner on the SS after riding the X.

There are different variations on the motor. The Spec2/3 (I believe) is blacked out like the SS750DC, mine is not (yet).

You can't go wrong with the power/torque of the X. If you think the 1300 is high, the 1800 would knock your underwear off. With mild modifications and addition of a fuel manager you can be easily putting 100+ hp to the wheel.

man i love it, i finally got everything installed minus the intake. i still need to order the factory pro kit for it. i think i might have the fender sold to a guy over on the cafe. if he does buy it, i'm gonna order my wide glide & tire for the front. i also just sold the floor boards off of it as well.

Cool Deal....The family just spent a few bucks as a gift for me and I got the Kury deep dish bezels on the front and Progressive fork springs.

I got the bezels on but I've been working 12 - 16hrs a day since the springs came in so I am hoping to get them installed sometime this week.

Hopefully I can drop a hint to them for the Kury deep dishes for the rear soon...LOL

Even I find myself searching, bought a tach, and at highway I'm good because I know the RPM range I will be in. But when it comes to lower than highway speed, I don't know all the speed-rpm-gear ratios.

Personally, I bought the 1300VTX because i've always had big motors and didn't want to feel let down. I rode a 750 Shadow and it was nice but was a little short on power. I've had opposed twins, in line fours and V fours and I gotta say the Honda big V twin is by far my favorite. I did add a Cobra exhaust and HyperCharger which definatly add to the fun factor. As for looks, the 1300C I think is the least retro looking of any of them.

I too have joined the ranks after many good years of the 750SS. I know I have been gone a while but I have been battling health issues after a massive heart attack at 48. I am now on the road to good health and healing. I sold the 750SS a few weeks ago to go in search of a VTX 1300. Instead I stumbled upon a screaming deal on a 2003 VTX1800R with only 2000 miles on her. Came with sissybar, driving lights, and battery tender. The bike is in showroom condition. This bitch is an animal!!! Since she is unmolested I am in the progress of getting mod fever all over again...just ordered some Bubs for her....LOL
