well today i finally got those pesky badges pulled off the side of the tank. used a hairdryer & dental floss, but it was a pain in the ass. tank looks better without them on there.
i also changed out the old man running boards for forward controls off of a C model & i like those alot better.
earlier in the day though i took the back wheel off of the X & my CBR, because i wanted to see for myself how much of a difference there was between the 2 flanges. as you can see in the pics below, the X flange is not much different from the CBR one. so i took the 2 of them to a machine shop and talked to the guy about milling down the X flange to fit the CBR wheel. after the guy inspected it he said no prob with the milling. all that really needs to be milled is 1/8in off the face & 1/4 inch of the outer part of it.
by now you guys should see what i am getting at here. i plan on having a second flange milled to fit the specs of the CBR wheel. i check all the other measurements as far as the width of the hubs between the 2 wheels. i will also have to have 1/4 inch milled off of the brake stay along with dropping the caliper down to reach the disk. since the disk for the X is larger in diameter then the CBR. or i may have to fab up a CBR brake stay instead. but it really is not gonna be that hard to do.:jamming:
i already have a line on a CBR wheel & i need to order a tire. gonna get a Metz 210/50/17 for the rim. should be plenty of room inside those huge fenders. plus i kept my struts off of the SS so i will slam the ass with those one the swap is complete. take a look at these pics below and you can see the difference in the 2 wheels.
