Here's another garage door opener mod... I'll call it Mark's Garage Door Opener Mod. LOL...

I bought another odometer reset switch button cover (only one the Honda Stealership here has ever ordered or had in) for about $10, and a $2.47 switch from Radio Shack. That and a donor opener & some time with a dremel, a soldering gun, a drill & a couple of bits & some Goop and I have this:

Thanks! I'm just get started on this bitch. A lot of the bikes I see on this forum definitely show an absolute shit-ton of talent and ingenuity. Luckily for my wallet, I don't want to chop the Aero, I'm looking for more of a classic, Indian look...

Now if I'd bought a Spirit or and ACE... I'd be all about slamming it and raking it out.

Next bike...

Okay, very neat idea, I like it, is it working at this time? Or still in the works? Also, should be moved to the HOW TO thread, I would think, the dashboard on my Spirit would have room for such a mod too I think... If I could get something like this to work, that would make life so much easier for sure...

BTW, looked at your gallery on Picasa... very nice work and that BIB is SWEEEEEEET!

I swore I posted this last night from my iphone, but it's not here, so...

Yes, it's still working, use it every day. Yes, I've made further changes.

It seemed intermittent, especially with regard to distance, so I soldered a 32" length of wire to the variable resistor on the transmitter circuit and ran that down the frame next to the radiator, in the wiring harness with the rear brake light actuator wire.

I also removed all the surface mount switches so there was no way for it to accidentally activate and wrapped the board in electricians tape, then remounted.

That's my current setup.

Nice mod. I'd probably do it, except I spent about $80 for a thing called Flash2pass. A transmitter wires to the headlight of the bike, so all I have to do is flash my brights on and off a couple time as I come up the alley. It's all weatherproof and ready to use. Had it for a couple years now and it works great.

I was considering that, when I got this wild idea that I could probably make one for free. Didn't turn out free, with the button and all, but it was fun and kept me in the garage for a while.

great idea ITC.... this is my TEMP fix until i do something like you have. its my opener in a weather proof case temp attached to the bib. It works for the short time i will be in the states. I have seen a few others on this site that are great ideas. My only issue is that i live in base housing and if i tear down one of theirs im paying for it (they cant be but so much so it is almost worth it). Right now i am on sea duty working 16 hour days 6 days a week so doing anything to the bike is difficult. Thanks again for the walk through.
