Hey, all,
First time poster here! I don't actually own a Shadow, but a friend of mine does. He asked me recently to ask on the forums I frequent to find out if anyone has found a better seat for the VLX. He says the one he has is good enough for an hour or so, but after that he starts getting that "burn", right at the points of the pelvis.
I suggested he try a gel seat pad first, but he claims they tend to... er, separate the halves, so to speak, and put a lot of strain not only on the skin but on the base of the spine and all the assorted nerves down there. The only seat I've found for the VLX is made by Mustang, and they want $360 for it! Holy cow!
Anyway, whether aftermarket, modified, or adapted from another bike, are there any VLX riders in here who've found a more comfortable replacement?
Thanks
Nick

I can let you know when I get mine back. I'm sending mine to Slitherin Seats www.slitherinseatworks.com (http://www.slitherinseatworks.com) to have him shave/reshape and add a gelpad. I can let you know what I think when I get it back and send you some pics. I have a '03 VLX.

You can't go wrong with mustang or corbin. You won't believe the difference they make. I've had a mustang seat on my spirit for several years. I rode on the original seat for one year. After the mustang gets broken in, it's GREAT! You get what you pay for!

Wowsers, me either, and I'm sure my VLX-riding friend wouldn't either! Redline, looking forward to hearing about your custom seat. How much is that work going for?
Thanks for all the replies!

130 for shave/reshap and another 75 for the gel pad. I like the looks of it better than the mustang seats. If you look @ member TANGLEDJ' seat that should be about what it will look like onle in black.
