you talking about the fork tube nut caps? If so, they just screw out, but be careful, they have spring tension from inside. Cover your tank in case ya loose a cap. Obviously, the front end needs to elevated (duh).

Ahem ..... opinionated asshole . I did not mean the fork caps . I ment the caps that cover the screws that keep tention on the trees to hold the fork tubes in place . I have to remove the tubes from the trees to slide on the fork boots .Sorry if I was unclear . I did plan on useing a bike jack .

Those caps are plastic and can be pried out with a small flat tip screwdriver (or something similar). If they're stubborn you can spray lubricant behind the head.

Mr. Sinister, these are the mirrors I put on my bike this weekend, not as flashy as what you're gettin, but I think they suit my bike. Plus they were better than the ugly stock ones I had. They're made by EMGO and cost me $39.95 at the local dealer.

cool very cool. Mine are pretty similar. I like the look of them but yet they're not too small where you cant use them. Good choice

Thanks , I wanted somthing cool . I did not want any iron crosses or fire . Over done in my opinion . I wanted a matching side mount but found out that they are illeagal here . Still kinda ol skool looking . Mickey must die .

Susan and I both have the same ones. I was more concerned with function than flash. They match the style of the bikes and do the job they were intended to do.

Mr.Sinister
03-17-2005, 09:22 PM
I was hoping I could do both .We will see . I will let you know how they work out . At 40 bucks it was a steal . If the don't work I am only out $40 .

I ordered some new mirrors this week. They are shaped like a firefighters maltese cross. The guy on ebay had em but I lost out a few times and decided to get them from meancycles.com
Will post pics when I get 'em.

When I called and ordered them, I gave the item# and the girl asked if I was a firefighter! Duh! But then again could have been ordering them for someone else.

Glad you were able to do it for him. For the life of me I couldn't get those damn pics to download. Kept saying I needed to download and run something from MSN. And given my inherent distrust for anything Microsoft I didn't want to do that.

Glad you could get it done for him though.
Looks great!

No need to download them. Just right click on the pic, Copy, paste it into your image software, resize, save em, and upload!

Glad I could help.

Thank you Corpsegrinder ! Those are the new fork boots , mirrors , and header wrapped pipes from Burbs pipe werks . I wrapped the pipes myself . I had never done that before . Just in case anyone wanted to know it took around 75 ' by 1" of wrap to do those 2 short pipes . Next up beanbox mod , stage three jets ,install pipes . The fork boots required pulling the forks from the trees and removing all the cables , turn signals . And a whole lot elbow grease on the boots .

Sinister... get us a pic when you get those pipes on. Nice job on the wrapping.

03-26-2005, 09:48 AM
Thanks , I will try . I am happy with them . The rolls are 50' . I ran out on the second pipe about half way thru . If you look close on the back pipe about 18 " back from the tip you will see the seam and some wire .

Oh I almost forgot about the mirrors. They work ok until about 40mph . They get real sketchy after that .We will see what happens with the performance mods . Probibly worthless at idle .

These were easy to put on and I like the way they look. :jamming: Half the size of the stock mouse ears!

Didn't get to go out riding. Was in the process of doing the holesaw mod! It took a while cuz drill kept heating up and smoking. Got one pipe done and it sounds AWESOME! By then it was getting dark and was cold. Bad rain storm coming in for overnight into tomorrow. 4-6" of rain!!! I'll let you know how they look at speed.

You still ain't done with the holesaw mod?! Try running the drill in the forward direction... J/K Really, try running it at a medium speed, it gives the teeth of the saw a chance to get a better bite and won't heat up your drill.

Oh, and the mirrors look really cool.
