86 vt500 Shadow

I am looking to get a different seat for my bike.What other year seats will fit this model.I was looking at a 1983 and a 1984 500 shadow seat. Should they fit or no.

Hey jonesy,

Can't help you with compatability between nodels, but one option would be to use the OEM pan and modify it and/or add/cut the filler foam as you see/feel fit. Apologies for all of the slashes.

If you want to get creative you can wrap the underside of the saddle with cellophane and use fiberglass to create your own pan (or use the cellophane on the frame - taking into account that if it's an 1100 the breather is underneath). The cellophane will prevent the fiberglass from bonding to the OEM pan.
