I'm looking @ a 2006 VLX and I want to get drag pipes.

Cobra or Vance & Hines,... what do you guys think?

The only problem I've ever heard with the cobra's would be in their chroming. They had an issue with it a while back so I don't know if the problem is current.
I've got vance and hines on mine and quite happy with them. I'm sure you'll get people with Cobras that are happy as well.

Rusty, what was your deciding factor?

I had seen the Vance and Hines on another bike, and decided to go that route. It just happened that a dealer had a set on their display board. But at the time I got mine in 2003 Cobra was seemed to have a chroming issue. Lots of message boards were talking about chrome peeling on floor boards, pipes and other parts. I haven't seen any issues posted about that lately though.
Your best bet is to look at both of them and choose what looks best (in some cases that'll be hard because there is very little different except for the name on them). I don't think you'd go wrong with either brand.

I have the V$H's and love them! YOu might try and find each pipe on a VLX and check out the sound. I noticed that the cobra's had a little tinnier sound than the V$H's did. What are you riding now, C@?

I've got Cobra's and love them. I can't say that I've ever heard them right next to V&H's but I'm very happy.

I had heard the same thing as Rusty, but I haven't had any bluing problems.

I Have The Cobra Slashcut Drags.i Never Had Any Problems With Them,
As Far As Blueing Or Chrome Peeling.they Sound Great. At First
They Had Sort Of A Tinie Sound To Them But Once The Carbon Got A Little Built Up Inside Them That Went Away.

they both sound great, even with baffles still in, but i've seen countless cases of cobra pipes discoloring from heat (Blueing)

Cobra's came on mine (got it used) I think these pipes are single wall, don't know if V&H have single or double wall pipes.
The Cobra's are shielded so they look good but underneath ? I see some blueing of the actual pipes (near the engine) like the sound n look of em tho.
