I finally got my first mods (billski tail & fork, holesaw, cheznohs, etc.) all completed -- now I'll have some time to start riding, though the wrenching is fun, too.

Thanks to everyone who posted tips up in here - you all saved me a bunch of time (and cash).

To anyone that hasn't done the holesaw -- do it -- totally worth it until you get new pipes. And, definately for anyone who hasn't done pipes yet -- still richen your air/fuel mix -- the bike runs (starts, too) so much better.

Take a look at the photo gallery and tell me what you think.

Later,
E

Looks great. I'm in the process of doing some of the same stuff.

Put on the Billski light tonight. Pulled the fenders and tank so I can paint it.

Figure that since I clipped the wires to the rear turn signals, might as well replace them when I put it back together.

Still having a hell of a time getting my fork caps off to add some fork extensions. Can't get them to budge.

Thanks.

Did you shoot a note to Billski about the caps?

Mine weren't a problem coming off.

You haven't gotten those off yet? They shouldn't be on that tight. Did you get the right size socket and lift the front end up? The only thing that could possibly be holding them back are the o rings. How old is the bike? Is it garaged or at least covered?

If it is the o rings binding up. You might as well go to the dealer and order a new set now. They may have been put in dry.

Put a little muscle into it!! Just don't strip those threads! I just got my guy card pulled for a shock thing on TSW, but finally got the shocks back together. Use some muscle sister!!!!! All of my winter mods are almost done. Just need my new pipes to come in and mount the new headlight!!!!

Posted in my thread so I don't hog up all of this one.

And Wild Coyote, do you have some extra muscle I can borrow?

I have one similar to that one. Got it from Northwoodz customs in Michigan. Check ebay too.

I got the headlight for $105 on eBay.
He's go plenty more.

You'll need to run a ground wire, since it's a Harley (self-grounding) set-up, but that'll take you all of 10 min.
I currently have it mounted in the stock mount -- just needed a few washers to shim.'
I have a mount from Jireh cycles on backorder - it'll put it a little farther forward.

He's got them for around $100 right now.

Doesn't the pinch bolts on the top triple tree have to be loosened in order to remove the fork caps?:drummer:

Run a ground wire??? It's self grounding, why run a ground wire?

Because the Honda harness is three wires (hi, low & ground).
The one he sells has the ground going directly to the shell. You need to unscrew that wire from the shell and run it to the Honda ground. then just splice the other two.

And I spoke to soon about being done for a while - I wanted the smallest rear blinkers I could get and wanted them up against the Billski, so I made up a little bracket today. I think it looks ok.
