I have a 1997 1100 Spirit.......I have two sets of saddle bags from old bike......because of the back tail lights, I can,t use them, they stick out over the(front) seat.....
Without.....moving the tail lights <-----Has anyone found the perfect saddlebags to go with This bike or am I just going to have to live with the trunk bag on the back seat?
I see on other bikes I will have to put them UNDER the back fender.....But is there a (skinny) bag that fits between the tail lights and front seat?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

june,
Check out Saddlemen, I have a set on my VT700 (check Photo Gallery) because the lights were an issue for me too. I got some slant style, you should be able to get the dimentions you want from them...http://www.saddlemen.com/index.html

I got willy max slant bags the small ones that is and they fit fine under the seat and still clear the pipes and have room for most smaller stuff and if you realy try and squeez things even my three x leather coat and and zip out linner will fit but bearly. they carry most of the things I need and some things I don't realy need good luck they come with color inserts also.

I,m not as concerned about the bags getting near the pipes as much as I am concerned about fitting from front to back between the tail lights and front seat....But thanks!!
I have the sabblebag brackets I can put up to keep the bags away from the pipes!
Thank, June

June,
Here's what you need and you'll be able to fit about any size saddlebag on there as you'd like.

You can see my '95 1100 Shadow with large saddle bags here:

Hope this helps!

Depends on how much you want to haul on your bike. With the small bags on my bike I figure with the amount of weight on the bike it is in overloaded with my wife and my fat ass on it anyway so what ever is in the bags is that much more over weight. So if you don't do much 2 up riding the big bags would be much better for hauling things and moving the rear turn Sig's is not that hard to do with all the after market parts. Even a simple L bracket will work bolted to the license plate bracket. or buy some good sized aluminum angle iron and cut and file and Polish will do wonders. Or even stainless steel even better because once you buff it it will stay shinny for a lot longer check out some of the pics on the net and you will be surprised at some of the ideas on some of the bikes. I try to save money when ever I can but still keep a nice looking bike.

I had your same problem. There are some some bags that do fit. I have pair here that arent in great shape but they did fit the bike with no problem. If you want them let me know. You could have them for $30 plus shipping. What I did was went out and bought fender rail extensions and put them on and htat moved mty bilinker lights back enough for me to put on a bigger bag. I hope this helps if not let me know and i will do my best to help ya.

Well, All.........
I,ve finally got all the things I will need to move my turn signals back to the plates.... Turnsigal plate, heat wrap, screws, warm day, extra time...But theres a catch .........now I,m waiting on the luggage rack I won on ebay(today). Unlike most of you guys on here...I DON,T like to rip my bike apart and put it back together just to see if I can.
So, I wait patiently for the rack to come in....so I can move the signals AND put the rack on at one time.....OH, and while I,m at it (hate this stuff) I might as well put on the tank bib and Kuryakyn Longhorn OffSet Dually(On Crash Bar) I got for Christmas too...........errrrr<---(not for the gift, just to putting them on!)
AND all this, JUST to put Saddlebags on this Motorcycle!
JUNE
P.S. :mean: .....Did I say, I hate taking my bike apart.....:madani: You say hire someone:no: Not on my pay:cry: but it ,ll be O.K.....by the time I get it all back together:huh: (maybe?)....It,ll be time to RIDE again:cool4: ......See you on the pavement!
