I just changed my airbox for a K&N filter. I noticed a tube running from up under the tank to the airbox.....it now just hangs down. Do I need to do anything with it? cap it off or just let it get air freely?

I think it just moved vapors to the stock airbox...
Vent? If its not leaking anything n the bike runs ok, I would leave it open.
Maybe someone else knows better???

I think that is what most install those little chrome filters to,more for looks than anything prob.

I've got a dual carb setup that I did similar with. When I first switched out filters I put a small 1" filter on that tube and hung it up next to the big cone filter. I've seen some people cap it off with a golf tee or use a small filter and tuck it up under the tank.

Do you single-carb types need a rubber adapter to sit between the carb and the filter? If you do, you can take a male/male hose joiner thing and run that line right into the adapter behind the filter.

Ever heard of the crankcase breather line? Put one of those Auto Zone mini cone filters on the end of it......every now and again you need to clear the line, follow it and you'll see a transparent section, clear it if it's full of crap, pull it out of the frame clamp and remove the drain plug and dump out the deposits, don't forget to put the drain plug back in. And you for sure want to put a filter on it cause it will suck rain, dirt and small air born animals into your crankcase if you don't.

you can take that bracket for the original air filter off with a couple of bolts and it looks a lot better.

Pull all the airbox crap out then install a head breather filter from autzone on the line that come from the rear head.

Ok just kidding....it won't suck small aminals or any other thing into the crankcase. What it does is relieve air pressure in the crankcase from the pistons going up and down which if it didn't then the air pressure would become so dense in the crankcase the pistons wouldn't push back down, anyway it relieves air pressure in the crankcase and along with that it also emits a fine mist of oil which coats the inside of the airbox (duh....some people have always wondered where all that oil came from inside the airbox), so thats why you put the cone filter on , so you won't have a coat of oil all over your inner jugs and everything else.

You can use a cone filter on the dual carb, it's the stupid plastic snorkel you can't do without. I attached a cheap autozone filter onto the end of the snorkel with a rubber adapter. It's not perfect, but better than that damned triangle.

It doesn't really matter if you believe my butthole mouth, I'm too lazy to get out the camera. :)
