Holy crap ! Did that site rock or what! I have been all over it and its links since you posted it. I finaly got some free time from all that reading to say thanks. That stuff will be very useful after I get my forge and equipment. I have been researching forges alot the past year. Mostly for sword and knife making. Patern welded stuff. Casting iron pommels and hand gaurds or decrative bronze accessories would be way cool. I can allready tell my wife is miss me even more. Between homebrewing,fishing,motorcycles,fighting at the gym ,work and now metalcraft , she will never see me again. Somebody tell my kids I love them.:happy:

I really thought the site was cool, I work with aluminum alot at work mostly fabrication work, the ovens I work with for heat treating the stuff only get up to 1000 degrees so I've only been able to cast lead for hammers and dollies which I use for forming annealed aluminum, so I never thought one could melt the stuff at home.

By the way Sin where do you find the time? Work takes up the better part of my life let alone have such an array of hobbies. I got into the homebrew a while back it fits pretty good make a batch and let it do it's thing, while I'm at work.

4-10 schedule. Little sleep.My job does not tax me at all mentaly ..... That is what kids and marraige is for. 2 hours of fighting on Monday followed by fishing.5-10 hours of fishing on Saturday after a 10 hour day. Homebrew Mead on days wife is at work and boys at daycare after work. Bike to work and fishing hole. Hit the weights after work at the gym on campus. Teach BJJ [ brazilian jujitsu] to co workers and students after 1 1/2 hours of weights. Some Mondays [ raining]I go to the machine and/or metal shops that my friends own and hang out/work for free. I also have 22+ paid vacation days a year to throw around.

My brother is going to help me pick up my 88 vlx this week. He laid it down 10 years ago and I have been unmtivated to fix it. I may sell it for forge money. I found this cool store on ebay called Poorboy Blacksmithing that has a nice forge that can be modified for pattern welding that starts at $185.00. Hopefuly I can get enough out of my wreked vlx to get that and an anvil, hammers, tongs,twisters, and a propane tank.
