Search for a tire called "venom"
My buddie has a vagas jackpot and just replaced his 300 with a venom, wow! What a nice piece of rubber!
If they make it in a 180 that would look bad ass!

Hey bro, did you get a chance to put a 180 tire on the stock wheel?
Also, I was wondering what would be the biggest tire size that you could put on a VLX stock parts. I meant to make it look fat from the back.

Hello Homies, lol
This was our project 4 the weekend( my buddy and I), but I'm not done yet though cuz I still need to paint it and install straight handle bars and a fat ass rear tire. Speaking of tires, I already have a size 170 on mine but want to put a bigger size and was wondering if anyone has done that and what size. I want to go as fat as i can on the rear tire. Anyone knows where I can find straight handle bars for VLX?

I'm not 100% but that seat looks too far forward... Go to bluecollarbobbers.com you can pick up drag bars there for like 65 bucks. Also try egay, probably cheaper there.

I believe you are right and no wonder why it doesn't feel right when I ride it:laugh4:. I might have to play with the adjustment of it to pull it back a little. I agree with you on the drag bars, but I was thinking to put clip-on handlebars on it. I've been looking, but can't find the 1.5" diameter to fit on my forks. In the coming days I'm gonna chop the exhausts and take the fat portion off and put a tip on'em and wrap'em:jamming:, but I'm not sure how loud it will be and whether it's legal. Also, still trying to figure what is the widest tire I can go on the rear one with low profile. I went to one of those bike chops and the guy said he can go 180 with 50 on the profile, but not sure how would that look.

Legal?
Loud?

What do these words mean?

Please tell me, as I am unfamiliar with these terms.:grin3:

39mm clip ons is what you want. check out vlxbobbers thread he added them on about 2-3 months ago, looks good. Ebay has em for like a $100 but i found some locally on craigslist for $45. Check craigslist for wrecked crotch rockets being parted out.

I have a 200 on the rear on my VLX so I'm pretty sure actually more than pretty sure a 180 would fit....and by rumor I've heard that 200 was the limit for the stock VLX swingarm without modifying the swingarm. But to be honest, the 200 because its a bit thicker looks like its skinnier than the 170 that came off...so if you can find a really low pro 180 or 200 that would look pretty sweet...but not for a bobber really...the traditional bobber tire look that IMO think of is a thick front and rear tire.

I contacted the person on the VLXbobber forum and he gave me some item # on ebay and I went and ordered them this week, and yeah It looks sweet on his bro. I'm gonna copy his handlebars + the exhausts and I'm gonna try to do'em on the weekend hopefully;). The tires, I stopped by a bike shop and asked the guys about the tires and he said that I could install 180/50 on the 15" rear stock wheel with no problem. So you have 200 on the rear hmm, I might go with the 180 or 200 with low pro, but not sure. I ran into a little problem when I installed the license plate bracket on. all what I did was I pulled out the rear tire axle to put on the license plate bracket. Now i see some scratches on left hand-side of the tire. I rechecked the tire if it was wobbling or if the chain rubs against the tire when the bike stopped, but non of that. Not sure what's causing that.

This is where I'm at right now. I still have to do a paint job on it though:thumbsup:

IMHO maybe some new turn signals, fatter front tire and yes the paint job would be a good touch...but good start bro. OH and maybe cleaning out the battery box area.

Anyone has installed a car tire on a rear VLX600? A friend of mine told me that I could put a 205 50 15R for my rear one and wanted to know if it's doable or not!

Thanks.

God almighty!

Cars tires go on cars.
Truck tires go on trucks.
Lawn mower tires go on lawn mowers.
ATV tires go on atvs.

Anyone see the trend here??

Bike tires are designed, and engineered to handle street terrain while balancing on a machine.
And in corners you would either be riding the car tire side wall or you would be pulling the tires bead off the bikes rim.

With that said.
Another important factor is matching compounds.
The front and rear tire compounds should match (same tire brand/composition/design) if not you risk front or rear slide.

You could come into a situation where your rear will grab, and since your feeling it bite you will feel confident to turn into a corner. However if you have a softer/harder compound in the front it might not bite, so as you lean in and take that corner you could have the front tire slide or push into the corner.

Some say car tires work....
Of course they do, you can mount, inflate, balance, and ride on them, so I suppose u can consider that "working"

But, they are not safe IMO!

If they were safe, and if they were the best route to go, then bike tires would be off the market and everyone would be rolling on car tires.

If you have a trike, sure run car tires, that trike will have a fixed 2 wheel axle and leaning wont be a factor.

Otherwise Dont do it!

(another "con" is: you'll look like a total douche)

Looking to get a new pair of tires for my VLX. Factory tires are OK, but would like to review other options. Traction and road feel are most important....

thx

This is where I'm at this point and not sure whether to go with a white or black star on the gas tank.

white.
OR
Wrap ur pipes black and go with the black star.

If u keep the pipe wrap and the star the same color they will flow better.

Did u just butt the tube to the frame n weld for the hardtail?

yup i ground it down for a nice clean fit but yea, and i left the center strut in place of the shock so my welds arent really bearing any weight.....get it?
