Ok, I did a search and the newest thread I found about this was from 2005. So I will ask this to all fellow members to get some help.

I am currently looking for an in-expensive MP3 Player to use while riding. Along with a decent set of ear buds. I'm not looking to spend anywhere near i-pod prices. I currently don't download any music, I just have about 1,000 CD's at home with all the music I need. I would just have to place them in my computer and transfer them to the player.

What is everyone using ? and what do you guys recommend? thanx

IMO
I have 4 kids, the boys (17 & 18) have ipods and the girls (7 & 9) just got them, but prior to, I bought the girls little mp3's, from Target.

You can find'em for about 50 bucks, and if you lose it or break it who gives a fuck! Also my oldest son had a "Zune" he loved it, I never messed w it so not sure how user friendly it was.

For ear buds def get skull candy, they are cheap and sound great!

For mp3 check out the Jensen, nice and easy to use.

Would assume best buy has a huge selection too, but Target is closer to my house so thats where we gottem.
And when on the stores website check out the reviews there, I'm sure they have newer than 2005 (depending on what mp3)

Check out Creative Zen. Cheap, easy to use. But first,,, what kind of cell do you have (brand & model)?

Add... My CrackBerry Storm2 has tonz of storage (32 Gb microSD). If you have similar and then get a bluetooth Motorola Rokr S90 stereo headset (or similar model). It's A2DP stereo bluetooth, comfy, great sound, has buttons on it to play, pause, ff, and volume. No wires is sweet. Why spend more $ if you don't have to. Just a thought.

P.s. It auto interupts on incoming call and you can answer or ignore back to tunes. Good handsfree for cager, or office, home, etc as well. Plus, nothing extra to remember, charge, mount, maintain, no other software. Gotcha phone on side and you gotcha tunes. Turn on headset it syncs and connects and off you go.

Right now I have the GZone from Verizon http://www.infinitel.com/shop/images/vzw_boulder_orange.png. Got it because I can beat the shit out of it and it still works. Shock & Water proof. It can play music, even though I've never used it for that. The bluetooth would be pretty sweet. Gonna be looking for a new one soon, but I still want another one that can get beat up. I do like the idea of having wireless headphones. Just concerned about fitting with helmet, 1/2 shell.

The Rokr S90s loop over ears from the rear and wrap around the back of your neck. Work well with helmets. They designed for joggers, runners, cyclists so waterproof, shock proof, etc. Work with any device that is stereo (A2DP) bluetooth compatible.

I also came across this on CL. http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/ele/1914470849.htmlhttp://images.craigslist.org/3k53m83od5T35P55X2a8n0ab5159b3daa1342.jpg
The reviews online are ok, nothing great. But for $20, think I should try it? Until I get a new phone and/or get me bluetooth earphones.

That be the one. $50 shipped is about as good as it gets on these from experience. I did find one one time for 39 shipped but it was the older model S(non-HD). Sound is unreal.

I got a cheapo panasonic MP3 player at the grocery store for $25 and it has been going great for the last 9 months with no problems, I bought a battery back up dealio for a cell phone that will keep the thing charged for last 2 months of riding with one set of batteries. also 1+ the skull candy ear buds work as ear plugs and music. were like $10 at Target.

Cheap RCA here with Skull Candys cut down to one ear bud so I can say it is a ear plug and not headphones. Be sure to check your local laws. Some places it is illegal to use headphones but helmet speakers are OK.

Dude I used to have that indestructible phone, the boulder or whatever. It'll do mp3's, you just need to get a mini SD card and a pair of earbuds that'll fit the jack on it (2.5mm, I think, smaller than regular). Verizon sells 'em both at the stores. Those cards are kinda pricey though; it might be cheaper to go with a separate mp3 player.

I've got a 1st generation zune that I use with sony sport earbuds. Works well under a helmet, 30 gigs, has an fm tuner, pretty user friendly. Should be able to pick up the older ones like I have pretty cheap at buy.com or amazon, etc.

I miss that phone, though. My droid does a hell of a lot more, but I can't take pictures underwater anymore, and being able to drop my phone in my beer and have somebody call it so I could find it was a cool party trick...

Can't seem to break it. I already have a mini SD card, which I bought off ebay w/adapter cheap, full of MP3's. I can listen to them on the phone, but I can't seem to find a earphone jack anywhere on the phone. Gonna look when I go to the VZ store soon, since I'm do for a new phone soon. They have new version's of this phone, I'm gonna look into to. And just do the MP3 thing with the phone, if it's not gonna cost too much.

if you're on a buget look at Sansa, they are cheep and have expandible memory (you can buy bigger memory cards) and as far as headphones you can't beat Skullcandy, they are cheep and sound great

I don't often listen to music while riding unless I'm alone and traveling. When I do, I use a samsung yp-t7j. It's only a gig but it is tiny 3/8" x 1 1/2" x 2 1/2". They are a dime a dozen on EGAY! The one I use now I bought used and I've had it for two years now!

Neal, sittin at work milkin the clock till noon (hey, they make me damn-it!) so did some research. The Casio GzOne Rock (is this the one you have now?) has a 2.5mm jack, can take up to 16gb microSD card, and has stereo bluetooth capability. So, you should be good to go. Take the cheddar you would have spent on an mp3 player and get a Motorokr S9... Bro I'm tellin you, it's da Bomb. No wires, awesome sound, helmet friendly, totally weather proof & rugged, can sync with any bluetooth device. One on ebay now in Colorado new for 28.99 free shipping.
Anywayz, like I said, I was bored OK???

I just use my phone, no need for an mp3 player because it is built in. http://www.htc.com/us/products/droid-eris-verizon?refcd=GO000000103572370s_droid_eris&tsacr=GO4852745290&extcid=exc100324brgen1prodgg&gclid=CNSPm6ar7qMCFRxEgwodgjR72Q I say if you can play music on your phone why buy a mp3/iPod?

I have some super comfortable ear bud headphones made by Creative http://us.creative.com/local/1/promo/earphones/welcome.asp very expensive but feel absolutly amazing in the ear and have incredible sound, for me I got two pair free when it came with a new computer I got last year...I would have never spent this much. Before that I had Skullcandy earbuds which for comfort aren't too bad.

Just did a Google search and found this site, might be very beneficial for you http://www.lightinthebox.com/wholesale-MP3-player_c196?gclid=CK_wuMar7qMCFQsEbAodaQuX3Q

What phone do you have? Most older phones don't have a built in ear phone jack, the standard is 3.5. More than likely you will have to get an adapter that plugs into the charger port that then has a 3.5 headphone jack. For instance, this would work for a Motorola phone http://www.emtcompany.com/adapters/motorola-razr-v3-v3c-v3i-v3m-to-3-5mm-headphone-adapter.html
