I've been talking to a couple of members here and a local custom shop about making a chin scoop for the C2. Which will also work on the Aero & Phantom. Anyway, the reason I am posting this is:

1- I would like to get an idea of how many members would be interested in this. I'm not exactly sure on cost yet, I'm still working that out with the shop that would be creating these.

2- I am looking at doing 1 of the 2 following designs. Solid or with the screen (there will be a little extra cost to do the screen, but I was told it shouldn't be too drastic of a difference).

These are not the scoops, they are just references that I am using. They will be very similar to 1 of these. They will be made out of fiberglass with a black gel coat. Not sure if they will wrap around the down tubes or just around the radiator. That will be worked out with the fabricator, along with mounting.

These are not exact pictures of the scoop. Just a reference. If I get enough interest, then I will post pics of the exact scoop, once its made. Let me know your thoughts.

Maybe, definately interested. Details and cost will dictate the swing from interested to buyer. Will follow for developments.

ps I have already learned alot from you guys here, Keeps me comin back!GF , they are a scoop that goes just below the front of the radiator. There is no performance gains, it is just a looks thing. It is kind of like the radiator cowl that BigO has on his bike (pictured below), but will just be a scoop on the lower part, since the radiator on these models sits in between the frame. Not in front of it. Hopefully this helps

Thanks neal I was thinking of putting this on, and was wondering if the chin scoop would fit on as well?

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oNdLMgaxbLc/TFmrjAZZeoE/AAAAAAAAAa0/TWSGkTuJnt4/s160-c/BikeParts.jpgThere shouldn't be any problems with both of them fitting. I'm gonna talk to the fabricator to design it so a radiator grill cover can be put on along with the chin scoop. So this will be able to be used with or without a grill cover.

I've been thinking of adding one of those myself. Just not sure if I want to do a chrome one, or I saw one in black.

Actually that one might be a bit more of my style, not to sure if I am a "skull" type person.
I did however order some red LED lights for my bike. When I get them and install them I will post a picture. I already have the ones on the tire valve stems. yes red of couse:happy:

I really want one, the cost and design will determine the extent of my interest. I have been searching swap meets trying to find something I can fit to my C2. Lookng forward to seeing what you come up with

Well I decided I would go and search for the chin scoop, watched how they were install on you tube. seems pretty easy.. but doesn't look like you would be able to have a grill as well, that would probably be just a waste of money doing both! don't ya think?
Actually the one I seen on you tube was not like Big0's at all

I met with the fabricator today, got some prices. I will post them in a couple of days. Got to figure some things out first.

Why the DC guys get cut outta the picture???? I'd love to have a scoop. You guys have greg's radiator cowl. If I get this made, I will try to see if it will fit my buddies DC, and how much modifications would be required to do so.

I think you all ready know this but I will post to let others know, count me in. The look is killer. Custom costs money, cookie cutter is cheap. This is something that will set us apart. And my bike, with the space created by the rake is screaming for a chin spoiler..... Seriously, I can hear it from here....

"Give me a damn chin spoiler!!! And come home and ride me hard."

Ok, I went to the fabricator, and got some #'s. The cost to make the prototype & mold is gonna cost more than I hoped. Because of this, the price is a little more than I was aiming for. But after looking online at many different scoops, universal to exact fit to other bikes. Pricing of these scoops is pretty much in the ballpark.

It's looking like it's gonna cost $170 + shipping for this scoop. As TI 3VOM stated above:
The look is killer. Custom costs money, cookie cutter is cheap. This is something that will set us apart. This will be an exact fit for the C2 , and should work on the Phantom & Aero.

These will bolt onto the down tubes, using brackets that I supply( hopefully for no additional cost). And the bottom will wrap around the bottom cross member under the engine, between the 2 engine mounts.

It will be made of fiberglass with a black gel coat. Ready to paint. I don't have an exact pic, but it will look just like the pic below, just in a black gel coat.

Please give me a definite yes if you plan on buying this. Since I will not be able to get things rolling till I have at least 12+ sold. Once I get enough, I will need payment to guarantee I have definite sales, and I can get everything made. There will be a 3 week turn-around from getting enough sold, to shipping to you.

Hopefully you guys like this scoop, and we can get enough people to do this.

**Note: As far as fitment...... It WILL fit the C2. It should fit the Phantom since it's the same bike, just with a smaller front tire. I know it will fit the frame of the Aero, but I don't know what kind of clearance it will have with the front fender. Since it is bigger than the other 2 bikes.

OK, so I've given up on getting a custom made scoop for the C2 done. The cost was way too much, to only get a few others produced, besides mine.

Anyway, I found this scoop online http://www.motorcycleenhancements.com/Products/Yamaha/V-Star_1100_Custom/V-Star_1100_Custom_Chin_Spoiler__Primed_.aspx and after measuring up a VStar & the C2, I decided to purchase it and retrofit it. Well I cut a little from the top center, not much, just enough to help it sit better into the radiator. I have it tie wrapped to test it out before I figure out a final way of mounting, since the engine mounts are right were this will mount. So I dont think any sort of clamps around the frame will work. I will tie wrap the bottom 2 mounting points to the frame, inside of the forward controls. I may place a small bracket inside of the scoop, on the top 2 mounting points, then tie wrap around the frame to the 2 mounting brackets on the inside.

Here is a couple of pics of the scoop tie wrapped onto the bike.

Very nice!!! Keep us posted on the progress. Seems to be a great starting place for sure!

I saw one on a guys bike on another forum, it went all the way up and was molded to the tank, it's got me thinking. I just don't think I have the talent to pull it off.
