I got a 02 Sabre. Looked into trading into something I want rather than spending the money on parts.
Want something chopper style. Nice rear wheel and fender, probably a 14 degree rake. Try and make the bike look cleaner too.
Probably remove a lot of the chrome and go for the paint scheme of the black Honda Fury.
Not sure where to start or what to do. Also... would it be cheaper to just buy a Fury if I am doing all the work myself?
Here is what I am starting with.

I think I would go with New Sabre 2010 instead of Fury. Price check around here $2-3000+ cheaper. Larger tank ,but not bad =longer ride between gas stops.Get longer front fork tubes, which will kick front wheel out farther than Fury.My checking came up with 41mm tubes. Old v65 forks were about 4" longer than Fury.Honda sales said top trees are same rake Fury &Sabre. My 2c.

I think the longer tubes will make that bike sweet. I like the front end look of fury, but the sabre is just nicer.

sabre over a fury just for gas tank size?
well, I guess if it is cheaper to just purchase a brand new bike I will need to consider it.
I didn't think that would be the case.
Can someone give me the break down on why that is cheaper?

I would mod what I had, but that is just me.

I am thinking I would keep my wheels but powder coat them gray with the red stripe
wide wheel kit and new rear fender
relocate radiator to between frame rails
14 degree rake kit with new front fender
flat gray paint with a dark gray flame
also I would ditch some of the chrome (ok a lot of the chrome)
a photoshop of this would be cool... maybe I can work on it... but raking in photoshop would be a challenge.

I was just reading on another forum that you should not install a rake kit without raking your frame. Anyone know anything about that?

this is probably the reason they were refering to it but people do all kinds of shit to there bikes and a lot of people on here have the raked trees and fork extensions so i say just do it.
and as for the bike chop that bitch and then drive the hell out of it then buy a new bike and do the same to it.

To tell ya the truth campbuds, if you are trying to make it look like a Fury, I would trade it in for a Fury. Here is my reasoning, for one, it will take a lot of work to make it look like a fury, and it will never look like a fury, just because of the frame style and tank and stretch of the fury is so unattainable with the sabre. Now, with that being said, you have a ton of potential with your Sabre for making it look even more custom, I just feel like if you are trying to make it look like another bike, you will always be wanting that other bike no matter what you do.
The thing about the fury is that they are really nice out of the box for a stock bike, however there is still a TON of room for customization without doing a total overhaul. So you can still have fun getting your hands dirty in the garage. I wasnt happy with my old bike so I traded it in for my spirit, had to front some more money, but happy I did it. Just my 2 cents bro.

Jeezuz Khrist! I cannot beleive I just read this. Really? OCC? Honda Fury? That shit is DEAD, DEAD, DEAD, DEAD, DEAD!!! You'd be better off to buy an old Plymouth Fury. Have you seen whats going on around you lately?; fat back tires, raked front ends, stretched tanks (all the OCC, WCC, Big Dog BS died two years ago, thankfully). Take the bike that you have (which is a great platform) and build something timeless out of it. It'll perform, and you can ride the GD wheels off of it. Otherwise, decorate a cake and go to Starbuck's on Sunday mornings (people will laugh though...).

Nothing like stopping at a light or parking at a bar and everyone looking at it with the "I don't know what the hell that is, but it sure is fuckin' cool" look on their faces! :jamming:

Didn't mean to rip on ya as hard as I did, but like morph and rich said, take what you have and make it your own. It'd be way cooler than a Fury (Honda was about 3yrs too late with that idea).

Yeah honda needs to replace the Fury with more of a backyard chopper/bobber/rat bike. Think less stretch more rat less OCC!
Oh, and no...not the phantom.

Well plans have morphed since I posted this mostly due to cost. As of right now the color stays burnt orange. I might ditch some of the chrome but nothing is going black. Cutting the rear fender straight across the bottom and getting an LED strip for tail light. Also doing LED strips for turn signals attached to the rear view mirrors kinda like the rod. Also would like to relocate the speedo and maybe a wire tuck. Then look into lowering it.
Anyone relocate their speedo yet? How and where?

Unfortunately there is no cash for it right now and I may have to face a reality of selling to get a roof on my house. Time will tell.
