Just woundering if anyone had any good ideas on which is the best location for installing a side mount plate holder. I seen them mounted to the lower shock bolt on the left hand side, or the axl bolt on the left side. If you mount it to the axl bolt would you have to get a longer bolt? If you pull the axl bolt out, do you have to support the rear tire at all? Sorry for the dump questions, but I"m really digging those side mount plate kits for the ss and I don't want to mess anything up installing 1 on my ss. Any help would be great.

Should have some info that will help you out. There are a couple of other posts on the site regarding sidemounts, just use the http://www.shadowriders.net/forums/tren_z/misc/tren_z_header_search.gif (http://www.shadowriders.net/forums/search.php) button in the top right of page.
Good luck and welcome to the nuthouse! :rolleyes3

Have a look in my garage, mines mounted on the shock bolt. Works well.
If you decide to go the axle route, it's not a longer axle bolt you'll need. You'll need to tap the inside of the head of the axle to accept a bolt. I think it's about 1/2" or so you'd tap it to. Then once threaded, just mount it there. You could attempt tapping it while it's on the bike, but I'd remove it completely and do it on a bench or somewhere you can get at it to do a good job and tap it straight in.

Mount it to the shock bolt, chain guard bolt, or axel. Not many other options.
