Don't know it belongs to Coldenham FD. They have more money than God. (like most Volly companies) It's actually a rescue-engine. Plus they have a sweet heavy rescue and a brand new pumper-tanker (it is the biggest I have ever seen) and a 125' Sutphen tower.

Not knocking volly companies, but they are bigger shiny whores than any motorcycle enthusiast. Too many bells and whistles and not enough practical stuff. Gimme a truck that's looks like shit but does it's job. A war wagon....

That was december 03 in the Puerto Rico Bike Weekend.. the first one... he had all the Discovery channel bikes in the tent, no barrier between you and the bikes and him, you could even sit on them! the little time I had to talk to him was great, one of the most humble people I have known (of the famous peopple I know, there are not that much of them) great guy! He told me that he was going to come back for the 04 bike weekend, last tuesday show of the biker buildoff, but as the saying goes "Life is what happens while you are making other plans".

Don't feel bad Razor, I am pretty sure I lost a couple inches myself. Of course having a rotund belly probably contributed to my shrinking. Either that or my cabbage leaves are drying out.

I always wanted to learn to fly. Even took flying lessons out of Midway Airport many moons ago. I liked taking off, but pert near shit in my pants when he had my land. I was too young and emotional. After my first landing, I said screw this and quit.

Probably would do ok now, except it is so damned expensive. When I took those lessons, the total cost, if you completed the course, was about $1000.

Love the ST1300 but I can't touch the ground on one! LOL I have a 34" inch inseam but I'm a little shy in the leg department.

You should get her involved. Best thing I ever did. In our riding group, 4 of the 6 of us ride or are learning to ride. It makes for a lot more fun when you can share the fun.

If they wasn't so expensive, I'd look at a V-rod but I refuse to pay what they want for them. They're not worth that much money.

For outright power...the Shadow doesn't come close to the Magna. The acceleration is so smooth, because of the 4 cylinder. They corner like a monorail, and can keep up with most bikes twice their size.

The only Harley I couldn't beat so far was a Vrod.

Susan and I were out riding this summer and some Harley guys were at a gas station looking at a map. I gave them directions and as we were leaving one said, "Nice Magna". Most people don't even know what kind of bike it is. The only thing I can figure is that he got whooped by one at some point.

Hubby wanted the Shadow since it's more mild mannered with me learning to ride and I was fine with that. Made a lot of sense and I don't regret it at all.

Magna's are nothing but pure muscle. That is one of the few bikes that will also outrun a Valkyrie. I want one so I can spank hubby's ass when he needs it. :wink_2:

The Super Magna's from the early 80's (I think) would have been downright scary!

I actually had the loan all approved when the Supers came out. But then the salesman siad that they were gonna come out wit the 1100 Super in 88. So I waited and they never made the bike.

The Supers are only a 700cc bike and were made in 87 + 88. One of the kids at work has his fathers old one. I'm trying to con him out of it.

She really wants to learn but I make her nervous! Imagine that! I rode a V-rod and didn't like the way it sat. Lots o power tho!

Pegs

V-rod fits me perfectly. But I'm probably about 5-6 inches shorter than you.

Get her a small bike and take it slow. Don't yell at her. Just tell her what you want her to do (explain it one step at a time) and let her play until she gets it right. Just stand there, watch her (so she doesn't hurt herself) and let her ask you for help. I rode for about an hour at a time at first. My first "real" rode trip I did about 20 miles and it felt like 100...

Now, I can do 300 mile days with no problem.

Well I'll have to chime in on this one and step outside the Honda bondry even outside the cruiser bondry If you want Insane controllable POWER you'd have to try my Brother Glens Ride :tongue2: 2003 Kawasaki ZX 12 R Ninja :rolleyes5 I had it out for 5 hours 3 weeks before I got my 750 spirit and after the first 2 hours KNOWING you could take anything on 2 or 4 wheels is just addicting, the 1200cc in line four is just as smooth as silk and when you hit 6th warpdrive gear it's all over but the crying for them and the pure screams of pleasure for you, I had a Harley Boy mistake it for one of the liitle ones at a stoplight and thinking the grey hair ment I was old and slow so when I herd his Bike rev-up and his pipes bark it was all over 1st- click- 2nd 87mph allready at the next light Oh he didn't even clear the intersection yet too bad :wink_2: :sasmokin:

He's no youngster either and plenty of Harley Boys make the same mistake ie: Old and Slow  he traded in his Voyager for that and He loves it personally I didn't find it comfortable but it sure was a lot of fun :jamming:

I think that was called a V65 Sabre? That was the fastest bike for its time! Is'nt the magna a V45? Have you riden an ST1300? What a kick in the ASS! That thing will hit 100 before you even know it! Does Honda make any other V4's? Maybe the VFR or something like that? I can't figure out why those bikes aren't more popular. A lot of bang for the buck!

Did you try the ST with the seat all the way down? I can flat foot it that way. It's really a different looking bike. Quite stable at speed. I love the eletric windscreen. And think about cleaning it. NO CHROME! Wash and wear....

Can't answer about the Super Magna vs. V65 Sabre but I'm pretty sure they were totally different animals.

No, I haven't ridden an ST1300. I can barely get my toes on the ground with it - with the shocks, the seat is just too high. It could be made to fit me but there are other bikes out there already do that. :wink_2:

I'm going out on a limb but I don't think Honda produces any V4's. The only flat 6's they produce are in the Gold Wing. Why? Maybe longevity? Those motors are really strong and will see 100,000 with no problems. Some v-twins will too but would probably require a major overhaul.

Have you also noticed that Honda took every tour model (with the exception of the GW) off the line as well? You can't buy a bagger if you wanted to. Don't know what Honda is up to but Suzuki & Yamaha is kicking their butt.

Nope, haven't tried the ST but I have sat on a Blackbird.

We've talked about the "wash & wear" factor and have toyed with getting a more enduro style bike for that reason.

If we keep after our bikes, clean-up really isn't that bad. Maybe an hour for me, 1 1/2 for Bones for a quick detail. If I really clean my spoke rims, I'll be awhile...
