Hom'ster:
Total of 4 plugs, 2 on each side of the engine (2 front & 2 back). follow your spark plug wires and you will find them.... By the way, plug wrench is in your tool bag.

On the front cylinder remove the left side chrome head cover (carb side) on the intake side, remove the back chrome head cover. You'll find the 'hidden' plugs there on the top of the cylinders. As Fegs said, your plug wrench is in the tool bag. You'll need it for those two plugs for sure.

I'm running NGK's all the way around. Best to keep all the same brands and heat codes.

H'427 - bike looks good. Where did ya pick up the struts. Kinda look like wild card customs. I'm looking for something different. Let me know. Thanks.

A little off topic but I just bought a new bike and never got a tool bag with it. I know I got one with my last bike. Should the bike come stock with a tool bag?

Thanks

Yes, the Shadow Spirit 750 comes with a tool kit. It is locked in a compartment under the left side plastic/chrome engine cover.

Tool bag should be on the left side engine cover. Remove it and you will find a small lock, use your bike key to unlock it and your tool bag should be there. If not, go get it from the stealer.

Well today has been a good day. I got my adapters for my kurakyn pegs that didn't get sent with the pegs I got the first layer of paint on and now I have found my tool bag. Come to think of it I kinda feel like a tool bag after calling my dealer and :argue: telling him that I didn't get one with my bike and all along it was right under my ass!!

Thanks

Is the socket in the toolbag the only one that will work with our bike? I picked up plugs and an 18mm plug socket and I can't get the damn socket to grip the plug. :madani:

I was never given the toolbag when I bought the bike privately. How much is the stealer going to charge me?

I believe you can get a "thin wall" socket that'll fit, I recall someone getting a Sears socket with a thin wall that would fit. It's tight, so a regular socket won't get down there. It sux, but the best tool is the socket in the tool bag you didn't get.

Right on that one... I have a thin walled socket and it still won't get the front top plug out... gets stuck everytime. However, a few quick turns on the lathe and it works like a champ. Oh yeah, that groove in the tool kit wrench is there for a reason. Need to cut that too....

Incase you are wondering why, I'm just to lazy to pull the tool bag out everytime...

It also brings up the question of what is the best plug to use.

I have NGk V power in mine, but if anyone knows the baddest smokenest plug for our bikes, I would gladly try anything out there at least once :-)

(Let me geuss - Hey noob use the search engine :-) this question been asked a million times :-)

Thanks in advance :-)

+1 on the Iridiums........

Those iridiums are pricy! $45 for all four, but they're said to be good for up to 70,000 miles. I would half that on our bikes though being that they fire twice as much as a normal engine. Still that's 35,000 miles. Show me a person that has that many miles on a newer shadow...

Some links you may be interested in. Platinium plugs are only good for less maintaince on your everyday beater. If your engine is modified, your into performance, or you like riding at WOT alot your just wasting your money on those expensive plugs.

I haven't had any problems with the iridiums. The cost difference between these and the standard NGK's up here is only about $2-3/plug. So cost wasn't really a consideration. I pull the plugs every year and inspect them and change if I think they are in need of changing. They definitely don't foul as easy as a standard plug does.
I don't think our ignitions are high enough output to worry about any adverse effects mentioned in those links. If anything, I've noticed minor improvements in accelerations as well as a bit more mileage/gallon.

Here's some info on plugs,
http://faq.f650.com/FAQs/SparkPlugFAQ.htm#Platinum%20Plugs
this one from a high performance builder
http://www.automedia.com/Iridium_Spark_Plugs/pht20010101ds/1

Realistically like they said on the one site, if your plug is working fine, no need to change to something else.

or how about these? http://www.dragbike.com/news/features/product_directhits.htm

i found the other two holes today (gee I spend alot of time looking for holes) anyways, replaced them with nprea7-9 ngk, suggested by manual for long term high speed riding........... I figured i use them since i got it rejet/kn/cruzers on plus a trip coming up.......... Seems to run better, could be placebo! The old plugs were black, oily kinda, i havent checked what that means. Anyway all good, ride on bros!
