Went down to the water park yesterday with the boys and girls club to help out as a group leader. Did everything in the world to keep the kids in my group from ending up looking like little walking hot links, just managed to forget about myself till it was too late. I made sure they were coated at least three times over the five hours we were there. I figured I was still good with one coat, the stuff I used was water proof, I just didn't think about the duration of the PROOF word.
I got up this morn getting ready for work went to put my jacket on it stung but not too bad, then I grabbed my bag which usually has lunch and couple books or such I need through out the day slung it on the shoulders and felt fire in my skin it was just too much. So I ended up driving the cage to work. Hate to think what my helmet would have done to my ears.

Word of advice to all, sun block, if it says water proof it is but only for a little while and never forget about youself. If you do you'll hate yourself the next day.

I know how you feel. You never feel it till it's to late. Worked a outside job a few years back and didn't think about how bad the sun was till it was to late. I got burnt real bad, couldn't even let anyone touch me at all for quite some time cause of the pain.

Sunblock! Sunblock! Sunblock!

I use coppertone on face and forehead, but burned my scalp once. Now I use the spray type coppertone and spray my scalp too. It really helps. Just never thought about the top of head cause of hair.

Ahh yes, when I hear stories like this I am glad I am a Mexican.

Never been burned and never want to. Sorry to hear you got burned. I know it sucks. Get some rest and a cold shower it'll help.

Sorry to hear it Bulldog. That shit is no fun. We sun block every few hours when we are out in it. That sun is deadly in more than one way. Might be too late to help you but cold rags until the heat dies down some in the skin will help tremendously. We also have an after burn lotion (Coppertone maybe) that helps lots when the kids get a sunburn.

I was fairly dark from working around the house and out in the pasture. Guess it could have been worse one of the kids could have got it as bad or even worse than me. Used to be kids would be tanned off by this time of the year but they just don't get out like they used to. Them was some bright white little suckers, they would have cooked.

My 7y.o. son is only allowed to play video games and such when its dark or the weather is too bad or too hot to be out. Plus he would rather play outside anyway.

I send 98 percent of my childhood outside and liked it. Around here houses are getting bigger and yards are getting smaller. I think everyone, not just kids send too much time inside anymore.
