I've been doing a lot of searching, but I cant find any sound clips form anyone who's done a ginuine holesaw mod on the stock ACE or Aero 2 into 1 pipes. I've seen where people hve drilled 2 small holes in the first plate, but no one has really ever "gutted" them. Does anyone have an idea or sound clip of what they sound like? I currently have Cobra slashcut classics with the baffles out and I LOVE the sound.... but I HATE the look! I have someone who willing to trade me his stock pipes for my Cobras along with a few $$.... but I at least want it to sound somewhat close to what I already have........ man..... why do I feel like I'm gonna get burned really bad about this post?? LOL! :knife:

Sorry man... I've got a local guy already willing to do the trade + $50. I'm just wondering if I can get the same sound out of them if I do the holesaw mod. I just really like the look of the stock pipes.

I saw the sticky... but it was for the Spirit duals.... I know how to do the mod... I just wanted to get an idea of how it sounded with the 2 into 1 exhaust with all four of the baffels removed. I ended of finding some stuff on Google. I was hoping to hear a sound clip, but no luck. The guys that removed all of the baffles insted of drilling the 2 smalls hole say they love the sound.... so I'm just gonna go for it.

I did the hole saw mod and followed this site exactly. it has pics and all. http://whytlash.powweb.com/
Click on Modifications, then exhaust. You won't find better detailed instructions.

Whatever you do, don't gut it. Just pop the chambers open. Sounds pretty good.

You can't go wrong with that site. It's all ACE and its step by step on everything. It's a great site for mods.

Okay... Poked the holes in the baffels.... and my bike sounded like a high powered electric scooter. :-( So I decided to try out removing all of them. instead of doing all of the cutting, and hammering, I went down to the muffler shop. I removed the heat shields and tip. Then I had them cut the pipe off just after the 2 go into 1. Then they welded on a NEW 4" pipe. Put the shields back on... the tip.... fabbed up a mounting bracket.... cranked it up and now it sounds like a motorcycle again! The sound is loud, deep, and clean. To restore some of the back pressure, they put in some sort of cone shaped adjustable baffle, but it didnt change the sound much at all. Then they adjusted the air/fuel screws while using a heat gun.... now both sides are putting out the same amount of vrrrrrroom! Not a bad $75 investment.... I'm very pleased. Thanx for all of the help guys!

I'm glad I've found this group~ I'd like to mod my pipes.. not really wanting to put much into this bike quite yet.. got an awesome airbrush paint job from my buddy (The Graveyard stuff: http://s226.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/tophatpainter/Custom%20Airbrush/?action=view&current=DSCN1500.jpg).. now just wanna do a little more that won't cost me much. I've got a 1994 Ace and the pipes are stock, but they look different on the end compared to the pic's of everyone else's. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the site NOOB! Looks like your ride has a bad bad case of "baffle-itis" This can be easily cured with a $20 holesaw, a drill, and some pliers. See this link for the details..... http://www.shadowriders.net/holesaw.html . Also... ANYTHING you want to know... I'm sure someone has already asked.... and another guy has answered... You can find damn near anything about a Shadow by using the "search" in the top right of the pages.

It's some sort of heat measuring device that you aim athe the pipes (particularly just after the 1st bend of the pipe after the flange) I will read the tempurature of the pipes while the bike or car is running. He basically adjusted the screws until both pipes were within 5 or so degrees of each other. They were WAAAAAAAAY off when he first started the process. He told me that this is one of the main reasons why pipes turn blue and one pipe can be more discolored than the other.
