Hey All! I have been working out in the bush for about 3 months now only to come back and find this site has all changed. :eek2: Going to take a bit to get used to I think but glad to see it's not gone all together. Anyways I am up in Alberta Canada and for some reason I can't find anyone who deals with aftermarket Air Intakes here. Kinda Shity as ordering from the states can get kinda pricey with exchange and duty but it looks like it may be my only route. Does anyone have any info on the best and most reliabe sites to buy from. Any info would be greatly appreciated. :jamming:

It's very difficult to find places north of the border that sell aftermarket items. Most dealers won't carry items unless they are made from a 'big manufacturer'. They claim it's due to liability issues with the way some aftermarket parts may be made. I tend to think it's the big guys telling them what they can sell. Most of the aftermarket lights at some of the dealerships up here don't meet DOT standards and they are being sold as replacement lights (where's the worry about liability there?)
Most of my items have come from the U.S. suppliers. You can save a bit of money in shipping if they use the postal service. There won't be any brokerage charged on your item. You will pay the taxes though, and you being in Alberta, that only leaves GST. If you ship via UPS or FedEx you'll pay brokerage on the declared value coverted to CDN funds (which is how your tax is calculated). There is no duty on bike parts manufactured in the U.S.
There are lots of different air kits you can get for your bike. Check out Thunder Manufacturing (http://www.thundermfg.com/) as well as Cruiser Performance (http://www.cruiserperformance.com/intake_honda.html) for their bootleg. Also you can search around for manufacturers of a Hypercharger. Your local dealer will more then likely sell the Kuryakin version (http://www.kuryakyn.com/category.asp?bn=metric&cn=Air+Cleaners)

Good luck, whatever you choose there's tons of help here on the forums.

One province over and on secluded on an island, there's always a sailing wait at the ferries and no chance of being voted off. Living on Vancouver Island, paradise of the north! The only place in Canada where you can grow palm trees.

Right On! I will be checking that out!

My girl and I are probably on our way out to the island here pretty quick. I am hoping to borrow my brothers trailer so we can bring the bike. Always been a dream to ride around the island. Any tips? :help:

Where are you heading on the island? There's lots of great riding out here. Tons of trips to take and mostly done in a short day. Even the trip up from Victoria to Nanaimo is great.
Let me know when you are going to be out here, maybe we can meet up somewhere for a drink.

I have a buddy in Port Albernie that has just bought a Screaming Eagle, so I think we will park the truck there for a while and ride out from there. I want to see as much of the island as possible. My Dad brought me out there when I was about 10, almost 2 decades ago, and all my memories seem to be right out of a fairytale book so I have to get out and see if my memory serves me right. Places like long Beach and the Rain Forests. Not to sure if we could meet up for A drink though as I usually tend to have More then one!! Sounds like a dam good idea!

You will be basically in my backyard. Port Alberni is about 1/2 hour from me, you'll drive right past the town where I live on your way there. You definitely need to take a trip to long beach (Ucluelet and Tofino) on the bike. Lots of twisties, just have to watch for the logging trucks and RV's!!! Don't take the inside line on that road, curbside always!!!
I could do the few beers thing for sure. Shoot me a PM (http://www.shadowriders.net/forums/private.php?do=newpm&userid=15) here on the forums and let me know when you'll be heading this way. I'll send you contact info if you want to meet up. I should have my bike on the road the beginning of April.
