I'm not a big fan of chrome. What a PITA to maintain... so I'm thinking of having some of my chrome removed and powder coated, but I don't want to go with black because of my bike's orange paint. All I can think is "Halloween bike." Bleh. What do you guys think of having some parts done in a muted silver/gray? My neighbor thinks he has a place we can do this ourselves. I don't want to cook that shite in my regular oven!
I figured I'd start with the fender rack (not in my pics) and perhaps the crash bars, then onto the pipes.
Any suggestions? For now I'm sticking with the orange paint. I searched high and low for this color bike and used to love it, but am thinking I will change it up eventually. Maybe.

perhaps polish it up and then powder coat it clear after that. oh yeah , you do not want to cook food in the oven after you powder coat in it.

Orange and White.... Clemson Tigers colors
Had a teammate on the Black Daggers that rides with the Wingmen MC and his chopper was Orange and Blue. It was not bad looking.

orange and blue? No way. I mean, I'd have to go with Virginia Tech colors (orange and maroon) if I was gonna put on a display like that :greysick:
So Billace, that's not a bad idea, to polish it up and then powder coat it clear. Anyone here done that with their chrome?

oh Billace, it just occurred to me that you cannot powder coat chrome, the chrome has to be removed first in order to do it right

That sounds good Lynne. 1 thing though, don't curse yourself. It's called an engine guard, not a crashbar.

Why the hell would you want to do that?:pissed:

that's my alma mater, highrisen. But as much as I love my school, I'd never do my bike in those colors!
I'm thinking about the satin black that worldblowmetour suggested... (That is a hilarious screen name, by the way.) I might just paint up a few of the smaller pieces to see how I like the look before I get anything powder coated. I am still thinking that eliminating chrome and going with black might just be too much halloween, but maybe not.

There is no such thing as too much halloween , your bike would have a nice contrast to black . Imo the rims n hubs , would look tits black , um I mean nice.

hah on the tits!
I'm going to get a nice shot of her and then start photoshopping away with some ideas. I was just thinking today that the rims would look good in black, though I can't imagine doing the spokes, too. I would love to have wheels w/out spokes but the chances of me finding a pile of money that doesn't belong to anyone are pretty slim.
The more I think about it, the more I think you may be right about the satin black.

Naw dont paint the spokes ,ha . Just remember black is the new chrome . lol . Your bike is very nice the way it is though . I like the exhaust , and the light bar is fancy.

I'd have the powder coating done professionally. Its not expensive for small parts. I had my entire bumper done on my jeep for 100$ and the coating lasted 2 years while I had it on, and when I sold it, it was still in excellent shape.

I would go with black spokes also, they seem to be the hardest part of the wheel to clean for me.

Chrome can be powder coated. There are irridescents, and transluscents that go over chrome very nicely! You could coat your chrome in transluscent orange......-----Metalguy
