On all these threads, I constantly hear people talking about how they hate the C2's looks versus the older 750's. I guess having a C2, that I think looks pretty damn good, I get a little defensive. But I want some honest opinions here, what do you not like about them? Other then chain/shaft, I really don't see a huge difference look wise. The 21" front tire is the biggest one, but alot of you swap to that on the older models. And I do wish they had stuck with the chain drive, but I am glad they didn't, or I could see a lot more mod money going out!

It's not the C2 folks don't like it's the fact that honda in their wisdom decided that the Shadow Spirit chain drive needed to be replaced with a Shaft driven Spirit. So the ago old arguement of low maintance Shaft is better than high maintance chain was given more fuel on account of there would be no more Chain driven Spirits....I love the C2's except for that fucking shaft that limits what a man can do to the ass end of the C2. honda announced that "No more 750 chain driven bikes would be produced.", well that lasted for 3 years, this year they reintroduced another chain driven 750, only this time it's fuel injected....something else to argue over. I love that new chain driven 750 except for that fucking fuel injection, go figure.

In fact if Honda had made the 1100 Spirit in a chain driven version, thats what I'd own today., provided it had carburetors

The reason I bought my C2 is that I fell in love with the look of the bike when i first saw it in person. The 21" tire up front, and the low stance. I also like the way honda placed the radiator between the frame, unlike the DC or Ace. Not saying I don't like the chain drive models. I do wish I had a way to re-gear the final drive, like the chain drive models can. This way, when I'm cruising do the highway, I don't have to look for 6th gear.
Either way, chain or shaft drive, I still enjoy the Shadow. :jamming:

Well the nice thing about the new Honda RS is it might give the c2 people an option to go to chain drive . Might not be cheap but i bet it would work. Things that make yougo hmmm.

I also fell for the look of the C2. The dealer had a C2 and a DC on the floor. I thought that shaft drive was the way too go and I do like it, but I also wish I had another gear when highway cruising. It would be nice to trade a little torque for some more top end.
Perhaps, if I had found this forum prior to buying the bike, I would have given the DC more of a chance.
Water under the bridge my friend, still love my shadow.

+1 on that sentiment Mcvierh! Mine would be an 1100 but for the Shaft!

That was one of my first thoughts when I saw the chainguard through the spokes. Then I started to think of the parts needed and my head started to hurt.

I still would love to find out if the Fury rims are an option. They look damn good chromed, but I live no where near a set to figure this out and have never found one for sale. And if I did, I doubt it ill be cheap.

I am thinking my only gear change option will be a taller back tire.
