Has anyone ordered from them recently? Susan ordered her cables last month (the 18th) and still nothing. She sent an email and he said that they were shipping on the 4th,... nothing. Then he said the 8th.....still not shipped. I could understand if these were custom lengths, but they're all stock.
I got my custom cables faster from him in December.
I'm ready to tell him to pound the cables up his ass and get them from DK, might be a little more money, but at least we'll get them.
Airport, for what I hear they are hit or miss. Hope you get your stuff soon.

I understand that this is a busy time of year for these companies. Everyone is working on their bikes. But don't bullshit me.
The worse part is that I've been recommending them to people on here. Fuck!! all I want to do is get this damn thing put back together and be done with it. :veryangry

They are usually good about shipping items that are in stock. I don't believe the cables are a stock item for them. So they have to rely on the manufacturer for each order. This is more then likely the problem source. They get told when they are going to get the parts, and in turn they tell you when they will ship. Then of course they don't get the parts from their supplier when they were supposed to. That passes down the line to you.
My biggest problem when shit like that happens, the dealer (Phat in this case), should contact the person that ordered the parts and inform them. There is nothing worse then expecting a package that never arrives.
I would phone Matt at 949-859-7428 Monday during business hours on the west coast. At least that way you'll know what exactly is happening. There is no excuse for not answering emails. No one wants to be the bearer of bad news, but they have an obligation to keep their customer informed.

I e-mailed him back,he told me that they should get them in end of the week that was 2 weeks ago.I have not heard from him since. The thing that bothers me is that they say "can be delivered in 24 hours" been three weeks.I understand that it is a buzy time but like airport said do not bull shit me

It is wise to ask if a part is in stock before ordering . I have delt with this before . If it is not in stock I ask that they email me when it arrives . I then look to see if it is in stock somwhere else . If I find it else where I buy it . You may pay a little more but you always get your stuff .

I HAVE CALLED HIM. quite a few times and each time I get the same answer. "shoud be in tomorrow" and I SAY, "send me an email or call me and let me know" HE SAYS "OK" then I never hear from him again UNTIL I CALL HIM AGAIN.

If they haven't charged you for it, cancel your order. Terms of his service and he wasn't able to provide your parts. See if you can get it somewhere else first. They normally don't charge until they ship so you should be able to cancel it.
Sorry FFslady, didn't know that you had called. I know emails are one thing but sometimes a phone call goes a lot further. In this case, it didn't go anywhere for you. It's too bad about the lack of service from them, I know they were good for me when I ordered.
Good luck with them.

I didnt mean to YELL but It's just gotten a bit frustrating you know?
RustyJake
03-13-2005, 09:01 PM
I hear that and understand the frustration. I went through an ordeal over at TSW a while back with a sprocket and chain fiasco with Fishie (she's not over there anymore). She was a regular over there and offered to purchase a bunch of sprockets and chains for people. She took lots of orders and then things started to go wrong for her, end of story I am out over $300 CDN for items I will never receive. I wasn't the only one who lost money on that, but it doesn't make it any easier to swallow knowing you aren't alone.
As for yelling, I'm married so it's no skin off my back! :crazy3:

Hey guys,
I have the same problem with Matt. I ordered few items on 17 Feb and he send some of them after 2 weeks. Until last Friday, 11 March, they still haven’t sent the rest & never inform me either until I email him.
So far Matt always reply to all my emails & helps a lot. But I’ve been waiting for my parts for too long. I’ve made the fund transfer & don’t think I want to call him, too costly. I can only chase him through email again and again & hope he can settle my order asap….Help!!

I just read an article about them in V twin. Said they were basically a 2 person co. until a couple months ago. Now they are a 5 person company. The owner said he doesn;t want to stray away from the "customer service" they are known for as they grow. Guess he is eating his words now!

OK just got off the phone AGAIN with Matt. He said that he called Barnett this morning and they said they got "slammed" what ever that means. He apologized and said he should have them tomorrow and if I have to cancel the order, he understands. I told him the funny thing was that while I was on hold, the song that was playing was the Rolling Stones "Satisfaction"!

How'd you make out on the cables for Susan's bike? I see them listed in the "list your mods" thread.
I hope things worked out, it's the shits when you have to wait. It's even worse being told they are on their way and finding out they weren't even shipped yet.

Well I figured that they are ordered so technically they will be on the bike eventually.
I called Matt the other day and told him to ship what he had (chrome switch boxes, brake line, wire covers) and he did. They showed this morning and are already on. (BTW the Show Chrome switch housings SUCK!!!!!)
The cables are on the way. They should be here on Monday.
But the bike for the most part is together.

Good to know about the show chrome housing. I had looked at those a few times.
I'm going with the braided cables, but they'll have to wait for next winter now. Tax time and bank statement.........yeeukkkk!
I hope the cables arrive safe and sound for you on Monday!

Glad to hear that Airport, hope you get the cable soon.
I emailed Matt again 2 days a go and FINALY he send my Mapam grips & Kuryakyn lever.
Just wanna let you guys know that Barnett gave me an excellent service. I ordered the wrong braided cable frm Phat & they send me a replacement! It's not even their problem, it was my mistake & Matt also didn't cross check whether it is suitable for my bike. So, I'm highly recommending Barnett.
Airport, what's the problem with the switch housing? I'm using a chromed stock housing now, but it's very easy to peel off at the edges. I'm thinking to buy the show chrome.
AirportFF
03-21-2005, 04:20 PM
The show chrome housings are a bitch to install. Picture this, you have your stock housing plated (completely) with no accounting for the thickness of the plating. None of the casting flash is removed before you have them plated. All these areas need to be filed down so the switches will fit in the proper spot. But you have to be careful when filing or else the chrome will chip off at the corners.
The interior of the boxes is an absolute bitch to work with, non of the screw holes lined up perfectly. I had to modify the turn signal switch to get it to line up with the holes.
Then you have to get these little fuckers on the bars. Remember what I said about the thickness of the plating? Well it's just thick enough to make getting them on the bars a real mother fucker. I thought I stripped one of the screw holes out.
I was so pissed about the quality of these pieces of shit I sent an email to show chrome and strongly suggested that they don't even make them anymore until they get their shit together. :furious3:
Do yourself a favor, polish the stockers on a buffing wheel with some jewlers polish and finish up with some Mother's. You'll thank me for it.

Airport, can you attached the push & pull? This thing also happened to mine, the cable for push is shorter & outer sleeve is longer. But this is because I got cables for 99 and up VLX while mine is 95.
If you can't attach them at all, try to contact Barnett & hopefully they can help you.
Barnett has sent me a longer replacement wire, so I can cut to fit.
AirportFF
03-23-2005, 05:03 PM
The pull cable is fine as far as length goes. The push cable comes up about 3/4" short, the outer jacket is the same length as the stock cable.
Get this, got the push cable on. Tried getting the pull cable on. And because of the short cable and added tension (I guess) the adjuster broke on the pull cable.
So now neither cable works and the stockers are back on.
Contacted Matt at PP and he's gonna send me a RMA number so we can send them direct to Barnett and they can repair them. Just to be on the safe side I'm gonna send the stock cables along with them so they can correct any bad info they have on their end as far as measurements go. At least this way the next person doesn't have this problem.

Thunder and Barnettes have been on back order for some time now with everyone . I ordered a k&n filter this week and it got here on friday . Product availabilty determans shipping with them . They do not stock every thing they sell and have to reley on what a manufacturer tells them . If they get bullshitted you get bullshitted by proxy . If you think that you will be treated better else where , cansell your order and buy from someone else . I bet you will have to wait for an intake almost anywhere . :sign chil

I really have to take exception to that.
For Matt to tell me everytime I call that "They are due in today and I'll get them right out to you." several times is not the right way to do business. If he told me straight up that they were having problems with their distributor, I would have understood. That's something out of his control.
Right now, one of the cables that they sent was too short (not a custom cable either, STOCK) and I'm still waiting for an RMA number from him since Tuesday.
My custom cables took 3 weeks total. I'll stress again that these are stock length cables, nothing fancy. Oh and BTW when they were ordered his site said "in Stock, usually ships the same day" that was on Feb 18th. They just showed up on Monday. And one of them is wrong.
So to say that I, or any other customer, have to be bullshitted by proxy, is well.....bullshit. Be honest and things will go a hell of a lot smoother.

I would say what they did to you was wrong . If they say they have it in stock they should . They out right lied to you on that one . They probibly don't make that much on a order of cables . They should have said out of stock and unknown when we will get more . They could tell you that it might take awhile that they had been told soon but they did not trust them . I spoke with Terry and told him if they did not have it I did not want it . Because of what you said .

I don't know if it applies here or not, but some
companies will wait till they get a minimum number
of orders for a certain item before they order from
the manufacturer.
It keeps thier costs down. :furious2:

I agree, I've had some issues with them but would go back. They've always tried hard to fix any issues. Their main problem is when something isn't in stock. I waited months and months on my handlebars. Then again, nobody had em so wasn't that big of a deal to wait.
