No, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?
So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent
on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to
profile certain people.. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old
women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents
who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen
with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss, but
leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone lest they be guilty of
profiling

Yeah America is becoming a scary place now. I'm prior Navy, I feel very uneasy for our current service members the way some in our country are trying to pussify our defenders. Check this link out about that muslim major at Fort Hood. All this fucking pc bullshit if not stopped is gonna destroy our country. This motherfucker should have never even been allowed the honor to wear the uniform.

I wonder if I could sue the insurance companies for profiling ..... odd, it's how some do business but if it's to stop crime, HELL NO!!

Kudos! We should stop profiling the very second the group in question (or should it be without question?) ceases doing the same to the U.S. and it's citizens when choosing victims to terrorize and murder without conscious or discretion. Until then, they shall reap what THEY have sowed.
That being said, if you ever find yourself in Vietnamese village in the 60's during a war or "police action" with the possibility of an encounter with a military unit,,,,, feel free to target idiots of the same profile as Lt. Calley. No one will blame you one bit.
Since I don't anticipate that ever occurring to me, or anyone else for that matter, I'll stick with the identification and elimination of...

d. Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

with any degree of extreme predjudice necessary to return OUR Freedoms and Rights guaranteed AMERICANS. Unless, the Americans in question by and of their own accord fall into the "profile" (aka "ARE")....

I guess you could profile everyone.

William Calley (August 19, 2009):

"There is not a day that goes by that I do not feel remorse for what happened that day in My Lai. I feel remorse for the Vietnamese who were killed, for their families, for the American soldiers involved and their families. I am very sorry....If you are asking why I did not stand up to them when I was given the orders, I will have to say that I was a 2nd Lieutenant getting orders from my commander and I followed them—foolishly, I guess."

There is no denying this was a sick act of violence but certainly not a continuously sanctioned agenda!

Good point ahjort, there is a big difference in the things that happen in the heat of the moment while patroling an area vs. the current situation with the muslims trying to rid the world of infedels for allah.

Its real simple if they dont want us there fine.
Do like we did and fight for your rights in your on country.
When the mother country came here and tried to get us in line we kicked their ass and sent what was left of them back across the pond.
Out numbered out gunned but we won.

I wasn't gonna post, as my opinion differs pretty significantly than most folks on here on this topic. I'm actually surprised, but either way, we are all entitled to our opinions, and I'm fine with that.

I would like to add this to the topic, though- think of it as food for thought...

Would all the security measures and profiling, and checkpoints, and things of that nature really be that effective? I look at security in a pretty cynical way...Realistically we really don't have security. If someone wants to do something bad enough, the reality of the situation is that they are going to find a way to do it.

Look at the recent event over Christmas...there are some pretty significant security measures in place in airports throughout the world. They failed. Somewhere the system failed, and this allowed Abdulwhatthefuckever to attempt to earn his 71 virginians. Were it not for a failure on his part, he would have been successful.

So, that's that. I'm not saying don't have any security at all since it's useless..what I'm saying is that the level of security only dictates the actual level of desire (maybe commitment is a better word...whatever) that the person perpetrating the act has to actually follow through with that act. Higher level of security = more comittment so in light of that, I'm for a reasonable amount of security measures, but, as the black girls all say,"don't get craazy!"

And also, would profiling really do any good? Or would it find 5 or 7 bad guys but turn an entire generation of their peers against us? I look very middle eastern despite being of Castillian Spanish heritage ('specially in the winter with my beard nice and thick!) And I'm 27. So since I look the way I do, and my age places me within a certain "high-risk" group I should just be thrown under the jail, ask questions later? Would I have time to explain the 3 (active duty) years in the Army and participation in the invasion of Iraq? Apparently not...Big time disagree fellas. All it's gonna do is piss them off and breed a whole new generation of these crazy motherfuckers. That, in my opinion, is the last thing we need.

Either way. I didn't type this to incite riot. I'm willing to discuss this as long as things stay civil. But if you start sounding like one of those "hang 'em all" idiots, I'll have to respectfully recuse myself from the discussion, as I feel intelligent discussion cannot be had with folks of that mentality.

Since we all know where Lagos Nigeria is now, I fly in/out of there several times per year for client work. The screening I get there, at least via the international terminal, is much more comprehensive than anything I get in the US at any airport.
The rules are pretty simple - if you want to fly, there are the security procedures. If you don't want the backscatter or whatever shiny object the TSA is buying these days, then you don't fly. End of story.

As a side note, Lagos, London, US, Amsterdam, etc. would not have caught the underwear fireworks with any of the current scanning procedures - possibly with one of the backscatter/x-ray things, but I seriously doubt it.
