As some of you folks know we bought a house in PA this past May. The drawback is that it didn't have a garage. That was not acceptable, I had no place for my woodshop!!!! So we built one. I hired a contractor for the site and foundation work. Everything else I flew solo on except lifting the trusses up on the walls. A friend of mine came over for a day and helped with that. Other than that I drove EVERY nail in this beast by myself. It's actually 1 1/2' taller than the house.

Hey FF, Sweet looking place !!!

I know what you're thinking, you're looking at all the floor space you have and thinking it will take forever to fill it up!

Mine's 22 X 40 and after 4 years, I can barely get my Suzuki Samurai's front end inside.

Of course there is always room for the wheel !!

Man that is a dream place to live! I 'm a contractor and although not familiar with American house, I can imagine how hard is the work. Excelent job.
Looks like you hv plenty of food running around the house...

You will run out of room before you know it. We put up a 30 X 50 shed with attic last year and it is getting full FAST! Nice to have a place to keep your stuff!

Did you "BREAK IT IN" yet, newlywed?

Ha ha, My wife just read your post and called me in here to look at pics. She said " Look here, another guy just like you". When we moved in to our new house it had a two car garage. Now it has a five stall garage and is the same sq footage has our house. Just doesn't have a basement under it (yet??).

I don't hunt, and you can't hunt in this developement. Although some folks do I'm sure. I'm not anti- hunting just doesn't appeal to me.

But I do want to tranquilize the buck and hang christmas ornaments off of his antlers.

I won't let it get filled up. For every new thing that goes in it, something else has to go.

I still have to get my Dad's tools in here. Once I get the power and heat out there it'll have: Delta unisaw tablesaw, Jet shaper table, Jet mini lathe, Hitachi slide compound miter saw, Delta bandsaw, DeWalt radial arm saw, Delta jointer, Delta drill press and a boatload of hand power tools. I'm planning an addition to the back of it as a refinishing room with an air filter system. And I have to keep one wall accessible for lumber storage.

Both bikes are in there too. I also have a 10 x 10 shed to put up yet for the seasonal stuff so that'll be out of the way

The A frame is interesting to heat. You get a lot of heat stratification. If we leave the ceiling fan on in the main room it keeps things pretty well even. I was hoping to get the wood stove in this weekend. A guy I work with is suppose to deliver 3 cords of wood, split, and stacked for $250.

The basement is half finished and acts as the family room. We have a wall hung vent free heater for there.

Kingston, NY huh??? my mother was born and raised in Eddyville. You know the name Crispell in the area?? That's all my mothers relatives. They settled in that area in 1685 I think.
My Asst. Chief at work lives in Olive and is the fire chief there in the Vol. FD

We looked at a couple houses near the Ashokan reservoir. Some of the folks there were a little creepy so we gve up. You know the type, family tree like a telephone pole.....

It didn't cost much. The foundation and site work was about 12k. That also included removing 5 massive oak and maple trees. The garage itself came as a kit. The lumber wasn't pre-cut or anything but it did include EVERYTHING, even the nails. (which I didn't use) Why pound them when I can shoot them in??

Garage door, siding, roofing, doorknobs, trusses, sheathing, gutters and downspouts, everything delivered to my door for $6700.00

But I do want to tranquilize the buck and hang christmas ornaments off of his antlers.Looks like you wouldn't have to "hunt" much. Looks like you "found!" Maybe use a NET! We have people around us that go 500 miles to hunt wild turkeys. The turkeys are so thick around here and tame that you have to stop on the road for them to get out of the way. Go figure.....

Net ? I say move out the bikes and put a salt lick in the garage . That way all you have to do is close the door .

ask for Brad. They probably don't go out to Cali though. But he may be able to point you in the right direction.

Nice work Clint, I showed it to a friend at work who just did a garage and he said that it would cost twice as much here in Washington.

Thanks, I figured that I would never be able to buy that material retail at that price. I do wish I went a little bigger, but it'll do.
