I tried to find the link but couldn't so I'll just sum up the newspaper article.
A funeral for soldier that was killed in Iraq Oct. 31st was being held and a group of protestors from Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas were protesting the funeral saying, "god hates the U.S" "God is punishing us for harboring gays and going to war." They believe the world is going tobe destroyed because of all of this. A Harley motorcycle group showed up and revved thier engines so know one could hear the Baptists protesting. This is not the first time they have done this. I believe it is the second time. I just wanted to give some of our fellow riders some recognition for drowning out these sorry bastards who don't appreciate all of the stuff our soldiers go through for us. They have the right to protest but for crying out loud. Just wanted to vent.

Being Jewish, and a Vet this is something that really pisses me off, first about the funeral, I just cant understand why someone does that sort of thing, first off, when your in the military, you follow the orders of the elected civilian officials set over you, you may not like the policy but you go and do the job, you constantly put yourself in harms way to defend this nation, but you don’t dictate policy, if you don’t like the war, then protest your elected officials, not the men and woman in uniform.

Second, about that wack job on TV. Boy does that one need a rubber room, but I see stuff like that all the time, like at work, I had to share a desk with a guy on the day shift, and it was covered with Jesus stuff and bible quotes. If I complained about it, he and his right wing friends called me a bigot and stuff. It took someone who worked with him to complain to get the crap removed. I don’t need to go to work and sit at a shrine all day. And then they had the nerve to tell me that I live in a Christian nation and the United States is a Christian country…Wrong …as I believe the constitution and bill of rights did something called separation of church and state.
What’s next with these people, if you don’t believe like they do, you get sent to a special camp, oh wait that was tried in Germany once, oh wait, according to the ultra christen white movement that didn’t happen either.

Oh one other thing…if according to them I am going to hell for my views and beliefs then at least it will be warm there.

We'll know more tomorrow, but at lunch I was on the main highway that leads to that town (about 45 south miles from Lincoln), and there was a lot of bikes headin in that direction. Mostly 2 and 3 riders at a time , but a lot more than you usually see at this time of the year. A lot had American Flags waivin in the back. I hope that is where they were heading.

I imagine the Vet group for Omaha and Lincoln will be a good size.

As for the good guy's there were about 25 to 30 bikers that lined the street in front of the protesters and every time they tried to talk some of the bike reved up the motors so they could not be heard. After they left we all got a big thank you from the Family and the police for being there. I would instert a couple of pictures that I took down there but I don't know how.

People better than me have fought and died for your right to do that . It was done in poor taste at an even more misguided event . The venue that they chose to protest should have got them shot [ a funeral ? ]. It would prolly mean somthing if I saw a group of vetrens do that . People who do not understand the libertys that they are blessed with come acrossed as spoiled children throwing a tantrum when they do somthing so self important . The problem is a lack of public support for mutual combat . I believe if you pick a fight you should get one . Show up to funeral run your mouth get an asswhippen . LEGALY !
