I just bought this 07 Spirit 1100 for a killer deal. I would attach pics but its bone stock except for the cool handle grips I put on (got 4 Hp from those alone). I am starting to notice that there arent many performance mods for the bike.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to slap some Kromes and a K&N on it, and will probably have to do a rejet. But, I'm asking anyone out there if they have found any other performance mods for this bike.
I'll take any ideas--I'm particularly looking for some kind of alternate air intake. I put the air filter and cover back on with the engine running and could hear the motor bog down a bit. I know from experience with other bikes that the stock under-the-seat-intake is crap, and getting better airflow makes a world of difference, but I dont see anything for the Spirit.
Ill include the pics after i dress her up a bit, and some of the bike too:laugh4:

i have a 96 ace with the intake under the seat and i've looked high and low and not seen any intake mods for it, if ya find any let me know.

You can open up the bottom of the air box and stick one of those "performance" K&N air filters.
I would concentrate more on the handling as that's where that thing lacks most.
Them buckhorn bars blow, the rear needs to be dropped and a good set of tires is a must.

This wouldn't be such a bad forum if the juveniles and mental midgets would take their dumb shit elsewhere so the grown ups can talk.

For anyone interested: I dont know where these things have been hiding...I finally found more exhaust options for a Spirit 1100 at http://www.roadburner.com/exhaust.asp?ProductID=4183 ------ Theyre built same as Krome but extend a little further rearward, havent heard em though

i now that when we had racin four-wheelers, with the intae under the saet that you could buy a cover, dont even remember what is was called now, but it was like a mesh cover that did away with you lid, but wouldnt let dirt, water and all that swhit through and it helped out quite a bit, this may help you some. i beileive they were called outerwears, any atv shop should be able to help you find one

I have had two 97 Spirits of my own and have done several other bikes, 1100 Aces and Areos with different cams, pistons, headwork, carbs and pipes. Been doing it since 97. I get my cams done at Megacycle. They have a standard upgrade of max lift, adding approxiametly .070 lift and duration to 224 degrees at .040 lift. I have my own proprietary pistons that go from the standard compression to 10.66 to 1 and are .080 over.
My results are mostly from 52 hp to 70hp at the rear wheel and 60 to 80 ft lbs of torque.
That is just the standard. For mine since I am the mechanic my current 97 is running 75 hp and 83 lbs of torque. I am currently working at my final goal of 85 hp and 90 lbs of torque. I am going to be doing this with modified carbs, my way, and different rocker arms.
I have 43,000 plus miles on my current bike and have literaly beat the shit out of it in trying to destroy the engine and to know avale it has not missed a lick. Talk about kicking butt.. No 1300 can touch me and even run over the 1800's.... I love it.
