does doing that and leaving the pipe do something bad to the motor? I took them out the other day and the sound is incredible! I was going to leave the off but dont know in any issues with the back preassure will fuck with the motor.

I dont see any difference leaving the pipes or installing drag pipes but if someone here knows let me know! because if it does not damage the motor they are staying off! the bike ran great! I have a hyper charger and was jetted, afther removing the mufflers it almost made a willy!!

It shouldn't harm the engine....in fact...it may even help as you've allowed unrestricted flow. If the response is OK....mileage is OK....operation is OK...WTF are you posting this for? Saddle up and ride it......just check the plugs after 'bout 300mi.

Rheo what up bud ! Long time . We missed you .Should be ok if you rejetted to handle the hypercharger . I run unbaffled straight pipes with no problems . You will prolly notice that it works better [ backpressure ] if you really get on it from a dead stop with that setup . I have considered some half baphels to help when I ride nice and legal .

i know this is a old post but what the hell.
if i take the mufflers off it sounds and runs great but i havent re jetted or anything. so i took to the local bike shop (old Harley rider) and he said that it sounded like it was "under water" kinda if yah know what i mean and that isn't good and it might burn up the valves. i don't know but it did sound sweet. any info would help

i was wondering if the taking off the mufflers would burn up the valves? and i am planning on putting burbs on when money starts coming in along with a tornado intake. if i do the intake and take off the mufflers for now do i need a stage 3 jet kit or what? hope you can help me:happy:. and is there anything that anyone else have any cheap ideas with tips or anything to make them look nicer. like i said hope you guys can help thanks

You will need to rejet, you won't hurt the valves unless the pipes are cut really short. Some have added chrome car exhaust pipes or tips to the stock pipes with mufflers removed.Just mesure the pipe dia.and go to auto parts store and see what you can find. You could do the bean box mod with the open pipes to get a bit more power if you are going to rejet for the pipes.

actually i am going to do a custom intake myself. i just bought the filter today and my dad is going to do it at work. him and his pals work with steel every day. its funny i had shown him the thunder intakes and told him that i like these and he told me that he can make me one something like it in about 15 min if i have everything for it. lol so he is making me it and he is making me a set of risers on the lathe at work also. i guess it pays to be cheap huh! lol

hey cowboy thanks for all the advise do you think that i will need a stage 3 kit for this because i am kinda thinking of some burbs later so will the stage 3 work?
like i said THANKS cowboy i really appreciate the help!

Yes you want the stage 3 if you do pipes and intake. The jetting should be the same for straight pipes and burbs

Im trying to picture exactly what part of the muffler you are taking off. I have done the holesaw mod already but if I can get these pipes louder or better sounding that would be awesome. Can you explain in a bit more detail where exactly you removed the pipes? And can they be put back on if I dont like it?

Where the pipe goes into the muffler there is a clamp on the back side where you can take them apart. You can add a chrome pipe on to that or get a slip on muffler. The clamp is behind the heat sheild and you can change back if ya dont like it.

There's a few people running without baffles and I don't think you'll find one post on the forums about someone burning up a valve. I was from the old school as well and was always taught that you needed a little back pressure. But it doesn't appear to be the case.

I have done the hole saw mod to remove the resonators and it sounds great! Now when I look up inside I can still see the spark arrestor and the baffles. Are those going to come out with the slip on or are they further up the pipe cause I really cant tell exactly where they are sitting?
