Hey Brothers, I took my 17 year old son to the D.O.T. today and he passed his permit test for his motorcycle licence ,Whoa who. He's happier than a pig in shit.I'm glad he passed on the first try, now I have to drill the riding rules into his head. He has a good head on his shoulders so he should be fine.:jamming:

Congrats to the kid man,
and a +1 to any MSF course. Had to take one to be allowed to ride on base. I thought it would suck, but it wasn't bad at all and hey it lowered my insurance:thumbsup:

Congrats to your boy DS!!! I wouldn't mind at all if my 17 year old daughter was interested in riding. Right now she's sticking to the car.

I don't know about where you live, but you can't have a MCY license in PA until you are 18.

+ another 1 on the MSF course. Maybe hold the keys for the first 6 mos., he only rides with you, you lead him and he'll pick up some great habits. Also, since he's part of the Youtube generation, search for and show him some crashes for him to get grounded that no one is invincible. Soo cool for you and your boy!

That video with the guy impaled to the back of the rig, is a lie. He did not live. I got that in an email a couple years ago and then after looking into it more, I found the he died in the accident.

Not in the biblical sense, but I did get in touch with him on the other site. Canada is a long way off from these parts, and it is fixing to get TOO FUCKING COLD in his neck of the woods in the not too distant future.

what part? I'm in the burgh.
I was going on memory. When I took my PAMSP class, there was a 17 year old kid in the class. And he completed the class. They said that they could not issue his license until his 18th birthday, but on his 18th birthday he could get it since he successfully completed the class.
I did find this:
Please Note: If you are under age 18 – You must practice on a learner’s permit for at least 6 months and complete 50 hours of practical driving experience for each class of license prior to your 18th birthday. After completing this requirement, you may test for your motorcycle license at either a Driver’s License Center or through the Motorcycle Safety Program.
http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/faq/faq-mcpermit.shtml#Q08
So basically, you have to have the class M permit for 6 months just like a regular license.

Maybe you Morph and I could get together for a W. PA ride. I'd love to do an 8 hour Sunday ride some time. Saturday's are a bitch for me cuz my kid plays football.

How long did you have to wait in line for the riding test? I tried to get mine yesterday and waited in line for over an hour only to be told I there were no more tests available that day and that the person before me got the last test! I got there at 7:15 and there were already 35 people waiting to get their driving test! Most had failed it twice already!

I signed up for the PAMSP class. It's sponsored by the MSF and free in PA. The class has a wait (usually a month or two) but if/when you pass the class you have your license.
