Well the way I see things is ya gotta give respect to get respect. Hazing a noob could be taken by the noob as a sign of disrespect... I mean you don't go up to random new people in your favorite bar and disrespect for example unless they know your intentions. Do it in real life and there is the definatle possibly your gonna get into a fight and get your ass kicked if taken the wrong way. </o>Now don’t get me wrong, I agree 100% that this site is and needs to be open based, but maybe if we implemented some type of “vote” system to let the noobs get out of noob status it might be helpful. I wouldn’t want it to turn into some type of political bullshit, but if a “Noob Vote” post was started and members could post their votes openly along with their reasons (a poll post?) it might make people think a little bit. It would also, in my opinion, cut back on the noobs posting 20 replies to one post in hopes of raising their post count and getting out of noobdom. I also think it might be a good idea if the noobs were allowed to register, but couldn’t post until they have an avatar, filled out their profile, and maybe a couple of pics of THEIR bikes in their gallery. If you wanna hang here, a little work on your part goes a ling way………..

I lurked here for about 6 months before I joined to get a feel for the board and what was acceptable and expected of new members who wanted to join. I was ready for the hazing, and looked foreword to the hellos and finally getting out of noobdom. The smart guys are the ones that walk in a bar and lean against a wall in the back and observe for a while, not the ones who get 2 feet inside the door and start pissing people off. I ‘m still happy I joined, and up until lately I looked foreword to hitting the “new posts” button and checking for email responses to topics I watched. Nowadays I need to plan my time to check posts and weed out the ones that are just a bunch of needless personal attacks and post count builders.

It's a hondaline radiator cover. They discontinued them a few years ago. I think there are a couple sites with yellow ones left. Not sure. Since I have one, I haven't searched for one lately. I was lucky enough to land one from Egay that was already the color of my bike.

I consider myself a bored (board) vet and I sometimes come across like an ass, maybe more times than not and I will haze a Noob, but I in truth haze in what I like to think is a constructive/positive toward a Noob way( yeah I know, how's that possible?) ....I usually will answer in kind when ragged, but will choose my words carefully so as not to belittle and humiliated. I'm a natural born fighter and I see no point in kicking a man when he's down especially if I'm the one that dropped him, but i damn sure will make sure he doesn't get back up swinging. nuff said.

I think Swilly may be onto something here about getting new members up to speed. I like the idea of actually doing some work before you are able to post. I don't know if it would be possible but how about redirecting the title of a new members first 5 posts to the search engine. That way, if they are looking for help with an exhaust leak, the result comes up before they get to asking the same question that has been answered 10 times already. If they don't find the answer they are looking for they can continue with their post.

Flooding all the posts with responses to get their post count up, and in the process pissing everybody off with 20 personal attacks shouldn't be a way out of noobdom.......
