Muhammad Ali appears to be losing his battle with Parkinson's Disease.

The 63-year-old Ali, who has suffered from the disease for many years, has begun to show signs of decline, his daughter Layla told The Los Angeles Times.

"I feel like the disease is progressing," she said. "Different things start happening as you get older. I have noticed a change in him, something that goes along with Parkinson's.

"It's painful for me because I would love to sit down and talk to my dad about the way he used to be when he was my age, when he was in his prime, because we are so much alike. I can't really do that. I can't share a lot of things with him."

At age 27, Layla is in her sixth year as a professional boxer and has compiled a 21-0 record with 18 knockouts. She says she wants to talk about boxing with the former three-time heavyweight champion.

However, Ali, once one of the most quotable athletes in sports, is now mostly silent.

"We don't talk about boxing," she told The Times. "He might come to a fight and say, 'You're bad.' But he was never one to talk much about boxing with us. That was not him. And he doesn't talk much these days anyway. It takes him too much energy to talk.

Layla, who lives in Los Angeles, said her father feels "like his trapped inside his body He can think. He has things he wants to say, but his lips sometimes just don't move to get it out," she said.

"He has his good days and his bad days. He's taking a lot of different medications. Sometimes, his speech is so slurred, you can't hardly understand him. But he definitely knows what's going on. That's for sure. He sees everything."

How does her famous father spend his time?

"He's just taking life easy," she told The Times. "He likes doing simple things. He loves to draw, he likes to color, he likes to clip pictures out of magazines. And he likes to do magic tricks. It doesn't take a whole lot to keep him entertained. But his attention span is very short when the subject is something more than that."

I was able to meet him a few years ago at a function that my boss was chairing. He was a sincerely nice man. It was so sad to see what this terrible disease has done to him (and others afflicated with it as well).

At least he's getting what enjoyment he can out of life. That's what is most important.

Ok, so what did he sell? Waffle makers? "THE MUHAMUD ALI WAFFLE MAKER PLUS!" Only $19.95. Makes the butter fly and even strings beans? He has to support all his sons named George. No, that's not right. Maybe he is Tiny's FATHER. Is he green?
What happens to old boxers? They get shoved to the back of the drawer with the briefs.
Really, that is too bad. Hard to see celebs that we looked up to grow old and have problems.

Everybody gets old and looses some of them selfs in it . Muhomed lived an exceptional life . Why is it more sad than if - an 80 year old vet at the old folks home has the same problem ? 60 minutes will not do a show on him . He could have fought for his country , saved lifes , rasied great children and out lived them and nobody would care because he was not on tv and was not paid millions of dollars . I loved his fights but he would not have been great without destroying other great fighters carears . Ken Norton was born 10 years to soon . He would have been remembered as one of the greatist champs of all time , without Ali . Joe Frasiar made Ali the greatist and took the greatist out of him . Joe should have had the same fame as Ali .His punches continued to beat him stupid 30+ years after the thrilla in manilla .Thoose are some hard punches ! Some day I may get my brains beaten out of my head . I hope that I am remembered for better things than just fighting .

It's sad because we look at these celebs as they are people we know. Like watching your father go through it kind of. There are peeps going through it all the time but we don't necessarily know them or have even heard of them. Honor the vets for sure. That's not what I'm saying. Just sad that peoples' bodies last longer than their brains.

Most people wouldn't watch 60 minutes to see someone they have never heard about in a nursing home. We should to honor the vets, but what would the interest be? The media hypes stories of interest so we watch.

My point is we don't know or own any part of Ali . He never really touched our lives . Things he did may have but him personaly no . Ali's opponents had as much to do with how his actions affected us . We do not honor them as much . We should . They are just as famous and linked to him forever . They battled just as hard, did thier best and never quit . They just came up short like we do every day .
