i am considering ordering an Ardcore Chopper frame for my 750ss. i will have plenty of time to get it ordered and built since i am about to deploy again.

i wanna be able to pretty much plug and play he engine/running gear. i will fab the rest: seat tabs, exhaust, ect...

thoughts or suggestions, any other frame builds you can link me to?

Apache, i have looked at BMS and Cycle One Manufactoring

Man, have you considered keeping the stock fframe and ordering one of Ardcores bolt on hardtail kits instead? It lowers the ass end 6 inches, and it stretches the frame 4 inches...youd have to buy a new chain, but it would be a lot cheaper than a whole frame mod . Also, youd not have to worry about the headache of government paperwork and inspections and SHIT concerning titles and all...And oh yeah, if you did decide to go for the bolt on, bolt it up and then WELD it together!!

The bolton kit is 495, plus shipping...just an idea!

I agree. Unless the new frame is also going to allow you to relocate the radiator to the rear, it is not worth it. I'm sure the frame is 1000 bucks or so, with that you could do the bolt on hardtail AND a set of raked trees!

Yep. I agree with Voodoo and Shadow. You want to retain the bike's original VIN (less hassle, better resale value too.).

I built my frame, and took a set of punches and stamped my VIN in the new neck; never had a problem with getting it registered.
If you're gonna be deployed for a year anyway, just bring the bike out here and I'll throw it on the ol build table and fab a back half for ya! Guaranteed cheaper and easier than a new frame! This way you'll retain the stock neck and avoid the hassle of registering it.

The guys I ride with chop the original neck with the vin intact and weld it up to a new frame.

I thought about doing that with mine, but it was a lot less work to just get a Harley neck, Hondas have goofy bearing cups!

Keep it up boys! Keeps me employed. Gotta put food on the table. :cool4: I'm sure your rides are legit, but I REALLY don't mind taking one away from someone who did the neck swap or home made VIN to disguise a bike they stole from someone else. Karma, baby!

The ardcore works well, the only problem is, it looks like a bolt on kit! I would recommend (and this is just me thinkin outloud) use the Ardcore, but cut out all of that cast iron manufactured lookin bull shit on the stock frame, and bend up some tubes to connect the Ardcore rear legs to your existing lower legs, and fab some extensions to run the Ardcore upper legs all the way up to the backbone; that'll clean up your frame a bunch, and set it apart from the thousand other bikes that are runnin the Ardcore.

thats exactly why i wanna get away from what i have. you hit the nail on the head. i can bend tube and do my own welding.

the big eye sore for me is the section that has the fender rails. i think all of that needs to go.

i was honestly thinking that the new frame would be a treat for myself for this deployment. i would like to have fresh tins, wheels/tires and a new frame to start with once i am home on leave. i will have plenty of time to mull it over. right now i am waiting for ardcore to get back to me with a price.

as far as the VIN, i can handle that ; )
