Shadow cold natured

Ok so i bought a 1997 Shadow 1100 ACE and when i test ran it i notice its cold natured but didnt think too much about it, now that ive ridden it for a few months i know its cold natured as HELL!
The bike exhaust has been changed to semi loud cobra pipes. I put new spark plugs in it too. What it does it acts like there is no choke on when there definatly is, and it dies and sputters at least 10 times before i can keep her running. After that it runs great, althogh backfires quite a bit and not just letting off the gas. I have read that you need to re jet the carb if changing pipes, and i have no idea if this was done, could this cause the cold natured problem?

golden rule is if it runs better when you turn choke on then you need more fuel. need to jet bigger. mine does the same thing. just havent jetted it yet. and has cobra pipes also. and the plugs are off the shelf plugs. so the heat range is prolly wrong.

I have a 96 Shadow 1100 with Cobra pipes too an it runs the same way. Not jetted. Just a rough start, other than that, she runs great, no backfiring though. Sounds like yours is definitely running lean. If you rejet let us know if it helps.
