Engine swap question

I have an 84 VT700 and was wanting to know if I were to do an engine swap could I go with any larger of an engine? Should I look at any specific engines and what should I look for?

I don't know for sure, but I doubt that any other engine will fit in your frame. Possibly the VT800 engine could fit, but I have nothing to base that on. As far as what to look for in compatibility, the engine mount points, driveline location, exhaust routing, intake air routing, etc., etc.......is what you'd need to determine. You'd probably be better off rebuilding the original engine or upgrading to a bigger bike. These Shadows aren't like H-D's, you can't swap engines, trannies, wheels and such, like you can with the Motor Company's products.
