Hoping some of you could help out......this is what I posted on the firehouse.com website. If you do send any emails please use no profanity or abusive language. This dick is planning a run for President so maybe having emails flying at him from across the counrty would open his eyes a bit. Also reference the bill number in any emails.

Thanks

<HR style="COLOR: #cc3300" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->There are approx 100-150 NY State ff's employed by the Division of Military and Naval Affairs throughout the states Air National Guard bases. The majority of us are civilians who received out training while in the military.

For several years now we have been trying to get classified as firefighters and into the NYS Fire and Police Retirement System. The state and our union (CSEA) Do not even acknowledge us as firefighters, we a currently classified as "other"

We have been trying to get some type of "heart and lung provision" to cover us in the event of a line of duty death or disability. Currently we have none.

The Governor vetoed the bill last year that passed the house and senate unanimously. Citing "DMNA firefighters do not face the same degree of risks and hazards as their municiple counterparts." And "there is no evidence that approval of this bill would effect DMNA's recruitment and retention of firefighters."

We just found out today that he vetoed it again this year. Giving the same excuses. The bill numbers are New York Senate bill s-4768, NY Assembly bill A-8244. The Governor's veto # is Veto Message 110.

We will try again next year, but in the meantime we hope that some of our brothers can help by emailing Gov. Pataki on our behalf. And in the meantime we pray that none of us gets hurt or killed in the line of duty.

The ironic thing is that he was the speaker last week at the NY State's Fallen Firefighter Memorial. The very next day we were at a 5 alarm fire in the City of Newburgh.

Thanks:happy: We appreciate it. I even posted it in TSW. The more people that send something the better. I just get sick of seeing politicians with their arms around cops, firefighters, or military personel saying how much they love us. Then when the cameras are gone they fuck you at every turn.

Right now if I was to get hurt on the job. A career ending injury, I get nothing except disability, 30% of my base pay. Before taxes.....That'll come to about $7000 a year net.

I will get one sent tomorrow. Plus I have a lot of family, friends and business associates in NY State. I will forward this to them. I know they will support your efforts.

Thanks, the more the better. BTW you DO NOT have to be in any emergency services to help on this.

The irony of it is that his helicopter is here and we have to standby on it once in a while.

Next time he comes to use it, start it on fire and stand there and watch!

Attaboy Clint!

I'm gonna forward this info to a guy who works as a call FF with me who's also an airport FF. He works at Quonset state airport in RI. It used to be a full time military base, now used for national guard. I don't know what their benefits are, but maybe he could help you out too.
