That's not surprising. Their bikes just cost too much!
One of the big Harley dealer's here in Ohio just closed the week before the Ohio Bike Week. They went bankrupt. They were the largest sponsor of the show. Fortunately other area businesses picked up the slack.

Like I just commented on that board, the only thing killing harley is harley. There way too overpriced. They need to fire people and restructure there company to be able to sell a cheaper product. If ford and chevy can compete in price and quality with honda and nissan why cant harley do the same against honda and kawasaki?

I am always looking for used bikes in my area and just from my vantage point there has been a dramatic increase in used HD's listed over that past year which pushes the price point down. Most of them are late model also, making it difficult for someone to justify buying new.

even the used harleys are overpriced. look on craigslist for the proof. people are asking anywhere from 12,000 to 18,000 for a used bike. fuck that. Even the sportsters are between 4,000 and 9,000 depending on the idiot that's selling it. I like to look of harleys but fuck their prices.

As much as I would hate it for the poor folks workin for Harley, I would love to see the company roll over and sink to the bottom like the Titanic; back in 53 they had no problem using political influence to run Indian out of business, and if they still had the Juice, they would do the same thing today to Honda and every other manufacturer (remember when they filed suit against Honda over the sound of their bikes?) those fuckers would stop at absolutely nothing to gain an advantage in the market, they are no different than the labor unions of the 1930s! just a bunch of thugs!!

On the money Apache. Then, when they went for a shit in the 70's, they sold out to a fucking bowling pin manufacturer and their bikes ended up in dealerships alongside Yamaha's. At that time, the only thing they could use to sell bikes was Evel Knevel. I bet he never saw a dime for Harley/AMF (unless thay paid him in whiskey).

Me too! But, Harley rode him harder than he ever rode a Harley.

Yeah, they used him! I think he used other brands too didn't he? didn't he ride a triumph too? Fuck I don't know.
Willie G is a spoiled fucking punk! he was Harley's "lead designer" for years before inheriting the company, and has had no problem whatsoever shittin on the folks who actually designed the bikes, by taking FULL credit for "designing the bikes that brought Harley back" which is odd, because with the exception of the V-Rod (which Willie was not involved in) They haven't changed their designs in fifty years!!!!
Edsel Ford inherited the Ford motor company, and goes out of his way to credit the company's success to the folks he employs; Willie G takes every opportunity to pat himself on the back for personally saving the company!! I think Michelle would eat a Willie G turd if he paid her enough!! NOW THAT WAS GROSS!!!

Ha Ha! Ya, I believe that it was a Triumph that Evel started out on. Harley has had some HUGE innovations that they should give Willie G. credit for; like, why rubber mout the motor when you can rubber mount the rider? Oh wait, that didn't work, maybe we should do what everyone else does and rubber mount the engine instead of the seat? How come all the builders are balancing the motors? Is that something we could do at the point of manufacture? Forget it, lets just sell T-shirts. It's an American legend manufactured in Mexico and Canada (30 minutes from my house in a factory that only employs cheap Vietnamese labor). They desrerve what they're getting.

Well then I guess all the pathetic posers who buy Harleys for the name "American Legend" "The only REAL American Motorcycle" are really buying cheap vietnamese knock-offs! that might be a stretch, but it's funny!

Nope. It's true. The company is called Linimar. They make all the electrical and do some of the machining. They're pretty much tits up like all the auto plants around here.

Wow, never knew that! They've really got some nerve playing up to the hyper-patriotic crowd like they do! I'm as patriotic as the next guy, but would never buy an inferior product just because they claim it was made in the US.

So does this mean Indian, and Victory will truly take over the American market now? HHmmmm...........
I know they're over priced too, but at least (far as I know) more of their bikes are really made in America. (Unless I'm wrong? I'm no expert. Just going off what I've heard about them.)

Check it out. Indian's back. I've been following up on the progress of their new revival. Here's their homepage.

But you'll notice "Starting at" $26,000 Good lord!! More than Harley. Too bad.

Well I stand corrected. But then again with prices starting at $26k and climbing fast to $35K I understand why Ive never heard about um again LOL. I really like that vintage. But for that price I can keep my shadow, plus get a valk interstate for touring, a blackbird for getting stoopid on, a forman for hunting and fishing, and just for the hell of it one of those mules.... All slightly used of course but you get the idea. Those indians sure are pretty, but Im sure even harley owners scoff at those prices.

He he ain't it the truth dakota. I can't believe they'd try to come back in this competitive market with one of the most expensive bikes out there. You'd think they'd try to get back in to compete with Harley, and Victory. But how can they at those prices? Geez. I only mention those 3 cause they're in the American market. You'd think those would be the first 2 companies Indian wants to be competitve with. They'll sink again. What a shame. I'd love an Indian over a Harley. But not at those prices.

Interesting for sure. Wtf's up with their photogallery. Looks like they found some freshman photography major and gave him $100 to shoot all of their motorcycles. He was high too and desided to shoot the bike inside a cafe with his family members as models. Smoked the good shit and though it was a good idea to shoot the fuckin bike in laundry.
Bravo, indian photographer, bravo.
... so that means i'll be selling my house to buy one tomorrow. oh, wait, no.
