I had to replace my stator on my 84 vt700. When I replaced it I used a new factory seal when putting the cover back on. When I got it back on the road the case was leaking very bad. I have replaced the seal 3 more times since then. Each time I check for cracks in the case or anything that would appear to be a problem. I do not see anything. Each time I replaced it I made sure the surfaces that were being sealed we clean and old seals were off. The most recent time I used an RTV sealant called "The Right Stuff". It has worked better then the OEM seals. It still leaks though. Any suggestions on how to fix it w/out getting a new case. Someone told me to to use a spray sealer and just spray the whole underside of the case. I am not sure how good a spray sealer would work. Also, if I wanted to do an engine swap on this bike could I get any shadow 700 -750 engine...This is a shaft driven bike? Could I go bigger (1100cc) w/ out having to change much on the bike? Please help!!

Thanks,
JOE

Are you sure that there are no cracks in it? Also make sure that there are no gouges on the sealing surface of both sides. If you nicked it while getting the old gasket off that would do it. Sometimes on things like that if the bolts are overtightened they will leak too.
