I have a 2001 SS 750 that is giving me a hell of a time with some electrical problems. The only aftermarket wiring is the rear break light and turn signals. My question is: At first the bike was fine and then it started blowing the #15 amp fuse which controls the signals, brake lights and speedo. However I rewired that issue and everything was fine until now. No the whole bike won't start. its got a fresh battery that is fully charged. When I install it everything works great, but then I hit the started button ajnd everything goes dead. Could this be a bad starter relay.......or what?? Once I hit the starter button once or twice...the bike loses all power and doesn't give me anything. Any suggestion would be great. Also I am looking for a side mount break light and a 2.5 scootwork kit. I have the 1.5" but wanna go lower. Thanks guys!

by any chance did you mess with any of the wires in the switch housing? i had to re-soilder mine because one of them broke off while i was switching handlebars. there is also that saftey feature so your bike wont start while in gear and the kick stand is down. i dont know much about it but mine acts funny sometimes. i think its that deal attached to the kick stand. i am in the process of getting some struts- i might be looking to sell my 2.5 kit if you got some time to wait- i also beat my billski tail light mod with a hammer and cut it alittle and made a side mount bracket complete with the same cateye tail light!

Yeah, I am in no rush for the kit so send me some pics and we can make a deal. That cat-eye looks good. Only problem is mine is beat up pretty good and probably won't look that good on the side. I am going to get a LED bar I think. Anyways let me know. I think I found the short in one of the rear signals. I'll keep ya posted.

Please clarify. I do not follow when you state that it loses all power.
Do the lights/lamps/turn sigs cut out? Is the fuse for the ign. circuit
burning? The main burning?
PS....hey DW4, is there any way you could resize and reattach that pic?
The size widens the screen to a scroll state and I'm not a very good scroller
:)......thanks.

I found the issue I hope. One of the rear turn signals (aftermarket) had a wire that rubbed through and was touching the frame. That in turn was shorting the circuit out. The other problem was my battery had a dead cell in it and would't take a load. So I am looking for a subrame to modify so I still have that support but won't interfere with those wires anymore. Know anyone who may have one laying around for sale?? Any ways....that should cover it. Thanks for the help though!

I hope a new battery does solve the starting issue. Best advice I can give for future
problems is that when a starting issue occurs give it a boost from an auto battery....
if all goes well then you can start troubleshooting from there.
