I had mentioned in another post about windshields that I had ordered this windshield and a couple of forum members asked if I would post my impressions.

Well, I got it this past Friday. Ordered from cruisercustomizing.com for $81.50 (including shipping). Arrived in a large box with paper packing material. Screen was in a plastic bag, hardware in a padded manila envelope.

Instructions need to be a bit clearer, but the hardware is divided into 3 small bags and it's pretty easy to figure it out.

Took about 30 minutes to install. Popping the mounts onto the shield was the toughest thing to do. It's a tight fight and you might want someone else there to hold the screen while you press them in. As you can see in the pic below I positioned the mounts close to the center of the bar, I would have liked to placed them a bit higher and spread out, but I didn't car to mess with the cables. The hardware is all black and made of resin with the exception of the metal "L" roundstock used to mate the screen and bar hardware..

I've very pleased with how it looks. IMO it give the bike a very sporty look. I'm not a fan of the big windshields. I just wanted something to take the edge of the wind when I'm on long rides.

Took the bike out for a 30 minute ride to get the adjustments right. I finally found the sweet spot for me. It was easy to adjust the rake with just a twist of a couple of knobs. I had to bring along the included hex keys to do the initial adjustment of the mouting brackets and round bar mounts. I have it positioned so that it minimizes wind buffenting on my chest.

Took it out in the early morning cold the next day and it really helped keep the cold wind from making my chest feel like a block of ice!!

So, overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. The price can't be beat and when you don't want it on, just a twist of the quick-release knobs on the bar and you're good to go. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a nice small shield to alleviate some of the wind buffeting. I don't know how well this would work with taller riders as the shield sits low, although that can be changed by mounting it higher on the "sides" of your bar. If anyone has any further questions I'll be happy to help out!

Also, for you fellow Aero 750 riders I installed a Vista Cruise throttle lock this weekend too, and have some tips on that if anyone is interested. The wires exiting the controls make it tricky to install.

I'm 6' even and want to get an affordable screen too. Suggest this one?

I don't normally like screens, but that one looks really sharp on your bike. It's not too eye catching & really suits it well. I like it....!

llamakc,

Well, I'm just a tad over 5'-7" and it's just right for me. With that extra height you've got it might be a bit short for you. That being said, you could likely mount it higher on the bars rather than centered (like I did) to offest your height.

brotherbaker,

Thanks. I didn't realy care for shields either until I came across this one. It's minimalist while still providing a break from the wind, and it comes of so easliy. I'm glad I went with it!

I'm thinking I might get the same one -- I'm the same height as you, but I got the Hondaline one. Its just too fuckin big.

I recently purcased and installed the Switchblade Shorty windscreen.
I am 5'7" and can see over the top of the windshield.
