Hi ya folks.....My name is Ed.......I own 2 street bikes....An 09 Suzuki c50t and an 07 Honda Shadow Spirit.....The SS is a chain drive 750.....Great bike.....
I have been lookin at the 08 and newer 750 engine and for some reason they look noticeably different from the 07 and earlier..... The jugs dont look near as tall or thick.....The block looks different too.....I think they look more like the older 600 VLX engine than my 07 engine.....And now the ?.....Why is this?... Did they redesign the engine based on the old 600 block?

Noobs are not allowed to as questions! So FUCKOFFYOU2BIKEHAVINGNOOB!
And by the way, use the search button.
Welcome to site, I'm sure someone here knows the answer. All I know is they made a lot of changes on the new shadows. I'd like one of the front wheels myself.

Gee thanx...That didnt tell me mouse shit.....Maybe I ask the wrong freakin people......Maybe I should ask some Yamaha freakin forum idiot and not a Honda forum High-headed, sloped forehead, Honda ridin, know it all, that knows nothin.
Oh by the way. Hope I made it to the topa yo shitlist in record time. I think I am goin to like this place. Maybe not the people. But the place.

Just a thought but some of these guys might like riding too much just like you.
That's why they would rather ride than answer the same questions over and over.
Though I could be wrong.

That's because you won't find answers to REALLY stupid questions. Who cares what the jugs look like (unless they're attached to your sister). Check out the mill on the '10 750DC! Let us know if you find a pic of one... Enjoy your ride.

What do you take me for? I may be new here but I'm far from new....So let me inform YOU that 07 was the last year for the chain drive....They went to the weak ass shaft drive for all models. Which just happens to be why I bought an 07 in 08 and not an 08 in 08 or an 09 1 month later when they came out.
Oh by the way.....Dont speak to me like I am stupid.......At least I aint in Canada. Canadians suck hockey pucks......

It looks different 'cause it's the C2 and your comparing it to the SS. Now Fuck-Off Noob with the question that doesn't amount to diddly squat.
Alright I realize my answer probably won't satisfy you Noob ass so for your edification here is the difference

The ANOVA table is as follows, with calculations below.
SOURCE SS df MS
Between 80 4 20
Within 400 40 10
Total 480 44
SSW = SST - SSB = 480-80= 400
df(within) = total n - (# of groups) = (44 + 1) - (4 + 1) = 40
or df(total) - df(between)
MS = SS/df so that MSB = 80/4 = 20 and MSW = 400/40 = 10.
The omnibus null hypothesis is Ho: mu(1) = mu(2) = ... = mu(5)
i.e that all 5 population means are equal, versus an alternative hypothesis
that not all are equal. The test statistic is the ratio of the mean squares
= 20/10 = 2.
The critical value for Type I error rate .10 is F(0.90, 4,40) = 2.09,
(rough interpolation)
Or use Minitab:
MTB >invcdf .90;
SUBC>f 4 40.
0.9000 2.0909
Since 2<2.09, we do not reject the null hypothesis.
a) The model for this problem is as follows:
Y(ij) = mu + alpha(i) + epsilon(ij)
where
i = 1,2,3 (3 groups)
j = 1,2, ... n(i) where n(1)=12, n(2)=14, n(3)=11
Y(ij) = jth employee's response in the ith group
mu = overall mean
alpha(i) = effect of the ith group
epsilon(ij) = random error (individual differences) associated with
the jth employee in the ith group
(An alternative model in terms of the cell means rather
than main effects could be written:
Y(ij) = mu(i) + epsilon(ij)
where
i = 1,2,3
j = 1,2,...,n(i)
Y(ij) = jth employee's response in the ith group
mu(i) = mean of the ith group
epsilon(ij) = random error associated with the jth employee in the
ith group
)
b) We are given
G(1) G(2) G(3)
n(i) 12 14 11
y(i)bar 25.2 32.6 28.1 (sample means)
s(i)^2 3.6 4.8 5.3 (sample variances)
n = 12+14+11= 37
Textbook guide to calcs below: GH sections 15.5, 15.6
First calculate the grand mean: ybar = 28.862
To calculate grand mean, weight each group mean by its sample size,
add, and divide by total n:
ybar = [25.2(12) + 32.6(14) + 28.1(11)]/(12+14+11) = 28.86
Degrees of freedom between is 2, and within is 34.
Form SSB by deviating
the group means from the grand mean (28.86), squaring the deviations,
multiplying by the group size, and summing over the three groups
(SSB=362.98). MSB is 181.47 (362.93/2).
Now, SSW = (n(1)-1)s(1)^2 + (n(2)-1)s(2)^2 + (n(3)-1)s(3)^2
=11(3.6) + 13(4.8) + 10(5.3)
= 155
MSW is the weighted average (by sample size) of the
within-group variances = 4.559 which is found by
divide SSW by dfw: 155/34 = 4.559.
Hence the ANOVA table is
SOURCE SS df MS
Between 362.98 2 181.49
Within 155 34 4.558
Total 517.98 36
Test statistic = MSB/MSW = 39.81
The 99th percentile point of F(2,34) is approx. 5.30:
by simple interpolation since F(0.99,2,30)=5.39 and F(0.99,2,40)=5.18
Or better yet use Minitab to get critical value:
MTB > invcdf .99;
SUBC> f 2 34.
Inverse Cumulative Distribution Function
F distribution with 2 DF in numerator and 34 DF in denominator
P( X <= x) x
0.9900 5.2893
Since 39.81 > 5.29 we reject the null hypothesis of equal means in all
groups.

Get your ass to the Dragon! Especially since you're only a few hours away. It's gonna take me two days to get there, and I debated about doing it in one but remembered that I'm old, tired and lazy. I think the two day ride is gonna kill my skinny butt, but it'll be worth it.

The shaft drive shadow came out in 07 and the motor looks different because it is off of a aero not the shadow.
It only took 23 post to get the answer!
I like my shaft drive. I went with the shaft drive because my 07 Shadow is my first bike. I researched for a couple of months on what bike I was going to get. I ended up going with the shaft drive because all the mechanics I spoke with recommended it over chain or belt, lest maintence and cost, more reliable they said. Ya, I wish I had chain for some extra power but oh well.

I love my stickers..... I watched Fast and Furious. Each one of those stickers adds 5 horse! That's why all you guys complain about the bikes performance, you ditched 4 stickers, that's 20 horse!!

But I have to constantly clean the greased off the rear wheel......Think I had rather have the shaft drive sometimes.......

And on the c50s and Volusias we can upgrade the drive to a c90 or 1400 Volusia drive and raise the gear ratio by 15 percent.......Can the same be done with say a 1300 or even 1800 drive.....Sure some machine work is involved but it would be worth it for the extra gearin.....Stops the always lookin for one more gear thing..

If you dont like the grease you can put a belt drive on it.

Saw the belt conversions and kinda questioned the stealership about "em.....Reply was that they had heard some mixed comments about "em and couldnt recommend one based on what THEY knew about "em.........I cant see how they could be any different that a chain drive......Just quieter and nowhere near as messy........Prolly cheaper in the long run too.

Had one on mine til the 200 tire went on loved it quite and clean. Going to go with the new one they just came out with they say if your chain fits the belt will fit. and the highway speed is better

I was just reading these posts about shaft drives in 2008. Sorry, been working alot. Haven't been able to post in months. FYI, I have a 1996 ACE 1100, and it has a shaft and disk brake on back. Does anyone know when they stopped producing the single pin crank motors?
