View Full Version : Stock jetting for the 1100 ?

Anyone know what the stock jetting is on a 96 1100 spirit ?
Do they run staggered jetting or is the front the same as the rear ?
I recently had the carbs off to clean them but never checked the jet sizes. Now I'm worried that I might have mixed them up.

Great site I picked up from on here that has parts fiche for all Honda bikes.

Duhhhh!!!!
If it's a small difference and I'm new to the bike I might not notice the added cooling affect of the bigger jet on the rear cylinder.
but, I guess you told me.

Had my carbs apart today just to make sure everything was good.
Just for future reference.
My stock 96 VT1100 has ,
2.4 needle and seat
#42 low
#165 high.
Adjustment screw is at 3 1/2 turns out (not quite right just yet)
Both carbs have identical jetting, guess Honda thought the 1100 didn't need the added cooling in the rear cylinder.
She still pops like a mother on deceleration (only have the hole-saw mod but she popped before that) so I might give bigger lows a try.
Than again, I could just get a K&N air filter and start the jetting process from scratch.

Ordered my jet kit this weekend. Should be doing it weekend after next. I'm hoping to be able to reduce my decel popping too.

What size jets did you order and what mods (if any) have you done ???

I bought my bike with Cobra slip-ons already installed. I added a K&N filter and ordered the Cobra Stage 1 Jet Kit. It comes with mutiple size jets to take mods into account. I plan on installing the recommended size jets based upon my mods as a starting point. I'll see what happens from there.

From what I saw on dynojets site, the kit only comes with main jets.
Do they recommend keeping the stock pilots ?
Or am I just blind.

Both kits only come with mains. I believe it's because the pilots are adjustable and you should be able to adjust them to be within spec. I emphasize should. This is my first time doing this so all I really know is what I have read. I only chose the Cobra kit over the Dynojet because of my Cobra pipes and got a slightly better price. I'll post here how it all works out. There's a shop close by with a dyno and I am tempted to go get before/after pulls to see how beneficial stage 1 jetting really is. Depends on what kind of deal I can make I guess

Jetting is done. I went from 47 to 50 rwhp. Low end feels about the same according to the butt dyno but the top end really woke up. Definately feels smoother across the whole range. I know some guys get closer to 55 hp but hopefully mine only needs some more miles on it. It was definately worth it to smooth it out and eliminate the decel pop.

So you run it on the dyno with stock pilot jets and the cobra jet kit.
Got an A/F ratio graph by any chance ?
How about just a HP/Torque graph ?
I'd like to see the torque curve of these motors.

Here it is. Like I said not much difference but it sure feels much better across the entire range.

Thanks for posting those graphs.
That torque curve sure takes a nasty nose dive in a hurry.

I'm still debating on whether to get a jet kit. I have a UNI filter and wide open exhaust, but was able to get rid of the decel pop by adjusting the pilots. The plugs look good too.

Did you change the pipes and air filter your self and have you owned the bike since new ?
I'm only asking because I know I'm running lean with stock jetting with only a hole saw mod so maybe someone else re-jeted your carbs in the past.
