so she surprised me and went out and bought HERSELF a bike!

Now keep in mind, the only thing relating that she has ever ridden before (beside me) is a bicycle.

Ok I know it's not much for a bike but Hey, I'm proud of her for wanting to learn and ride on her own. You have to start somewhere and we all have been there I'm sure!
She bought an 04 Honda 250 rebel with 3800 miles, all stock except windshield and red in color for $1900.00. We will pick it up tomorrow morning!

I guess the next thing she said she was going to do was sign up for the endorsement course here in Florida. She sounds pretty damn excited about the whole thing and it's been the topic at dinner for two nights now!

At first I was a little worried about her on a bike soloing but now I think it's cool! Someone to ride with all the time!

wish my wife would do that, such a pain when everytime i go on a ride she gets pissed off. It would be great if she would just throw on a helmet and come join me, lol

i'm lucky that my girl loves riding, buy she can't take more than about an hours ride.
i've been talkin to her about trying the msf course to see if she can handle riding her own bike.

That's totally cool, ace. my g/f wants to ride but she's to afraid...I have a small honda knighthawk 250cc that I'm trying to convince her to ride. Best of luck to you guys, I'm sure you'll have a blast!

My g/f started last year and absolutely loves riding her own bike. She started on a 250 Rebel last year and stepped up to a vlx this year. It's great having her to ride with anytime I want to ride and now she doesnt get upset about mods LMAO. I would definitely suggest the MSF course! It takes all the "you yelled at me" :furious2: right out of the picture.

My bride decided that she was tired of riding on the back seat so she went out and bought a Silverwing. I have to say, it is a fun bike to ride and unbelievable power. It's been a month now and she still hasn't ridden it yet although she has had a couple of failed attempts in a parking lot. I think the fear factor is preventing her success. Now she is waiting for next weekend for the BRC. She is really getting anxious to ride and I can't wait to go riding with her. Admittedly there is some aprehension about the possibility of her getting hurt but I'm sure she can handle it once she gets going.

My wife started on a Rebel 250. She rode it for about 4 months after taking the safety course. We rode together most of the time starting on slow back roads and working up. One day after riding to Austin, about 80 miles I asked her if she wanted to ride the Spirit 750 home. She hasn't been off it since and no problems with the transition. I rode the 250 home that day, and at 65 it felt like 40 on a skateboard. I have made sure she has the gear, full face helmet, leather & mesh jackets, gloves, boots and chaps. It would really upset me for her to go down and get all scraped up. Now we ride several times a week, always together, as two bikes are easier to see than one. A Rebel is a great start and will build up your wife's confidence quickly. Enjoy.......

I've suggested a couple times that my wife get a 250 but she won't. My brother in law just sold his 06 Yama 250 for pay off back in Nov, and I wanted her to get it. He sold it for $900.

Here's a wife story for ya. My wife (12 years) will not go near the thing (My bike too. LOL!!!) Just kiddin, won't go near my bike. Never have never will. So I chopped it up to make it completely mine. Never bothered her to ride, or try to ride. I hate pushing people to try to do something they're very strong about not doing. So I leave her alone, and she tolerates my rides. Cool. Well last May I went to AZ on a trip to visit my fam with her and the kid of course. Now I can't go to a beautiful state like AZ and NOT ride. We flew in so I made sure to set aside an H-D rental. I know H-D YUK, but that's beside the point. It was an 08 Heritage Softail Classic. Bags, w-shield, the whole 9. My MOM wanted to ride with me from Phoenix to Sedona one day. Very cool!! I pick it up Tues, cruise around day and night. We go to Sedona Wed with mom on back COOL!!! And come back home. Thursday rains a little and I turn the bike back in. We get home to IL. I find out my wife was pretty curious to ride on back the Tues I picked up the HD. I was pretty upset. I asked why didn't she say anything then? She said I should have asked her if she wanted to. WTF!!??!! Like I'm supposed to ask someone totally against it to ride with me. GEEZ!! I couldn't believe she even thought of riding with me. SSSoooooooo close. Of course now I keep buggin her to ride with me if I get my hands on a bigger touring type bike. He he. Now that I know she was curious, it's on for me. ;-)

Thought I'd share.

Same here. My wife loves riding on the back of the bike BUT.....I'd rather ride solo. Wish she'd express an interest in getting one. Right now she rides with me maybe 2-3 times a year. Gotta agree with Yo Muda. Riding is great ME time.

This is awsome she will love it when she gets the hang of it. Sign her up for the msc in your area it really builds your cofidnece and skills. And your right you will always have someone to ride with. Something like this happed to me. We went out looking for a bike for my husband and came home with my VLX 600  I use to ride about 20 years ago and finally talked my husband in to trying it now he's hooked

Well went to pick up the little 250 and it was everything she thought it would be and it was as little as I thought it would be. She loved it and the first embarrassing words out of her mouth were, "how do you start it"? I told her to wait until we get home and just pay the man! We loaded it up and traveled the 70 miles back home. She got a sore neck from turning around constantly to look it over as it rode on the trailer. After we got it unloaded, she commented that the paint was about the same color as mine and to be honest it sort of is but mine was custom mixed with flake and hers is stock red.
Later on after it cools down, she wants to start it again and try and move it forward on her own, IN GEAR, and I said ok but wait until I have had a few beers!
She is more confident now that the bike is home on her turf that she can ride it!
I sure hope so!

Sounds pretty cool.I think i would be as excited as she is in teaching her to ride.Like the other bro`s. stated, sign her up for a safety class so your not the bad guy when you try to tell her something and she responds back with stop yelling at me!!!!lol Might save you some grief and headaches for a small fee and put her into the safety mode.

I know exactly how you feel man. I took the bride for a ride on the back of her Silverwing yesterday just so she could see how it worked. Now she has the bug real bad. She has the BRC this coming up weekend. I think I'm more nervous than she is.

at least your wife bought a cruiser! My wife is all about fuckin crotch rockets! And, much like some of you other guys, gets pissed at me when i ride! She won't ride with me, so what am I supposed to do! And so help me if I ride to a GD bar

So get her a low powered crotch rocket. What does it matter what she learns on, she will not likely stay with that for long and when she moves up she may appreciate the cruiser riding position more.............

i'm teaching my wife to ride my sons 50cc honda dirt bike first before letting her loose on my other bike i bought a 02 yamaha v-star 650 and put it back together for her to ride when she's ready or i'll just sell it if she don't like it....

50 to 650 is a pretty big jump, You might try to find something in between for a short while. The more confident she is at each step the better. If she puts the 650 over before she is ready she might not get back on......................

What?! A 50?! Can't she ride a bicycle? Give the girl a break and tell her to take the course. She's gonna learn SFA riding around the backyard on a Z50.

I consider myself lucky, my wife used to have her own bike a few years before i met her and she had gotten rid of it before we married. She does ride to/from work with me on mine since we both work in the same building and she will cruise town with me on the occasional weekend when we go to her folks place or just killing time. When it comes to day long rides or long distance travels she just wants to stay home and get me out of her hair so i get to leave with her blessings, so theres no bitchin when i get back.

She has said that she wants us to get a Goldwing next year so when we finally get a vacation, we can ride instead of driving it. I don't think i'll bitch over that since i will still get to ride and take her along too. Besides i can carry more shit on the wing if we are gonna be gone for a couple of weeks.

That's my kind of woman! I am lucky to be marrying one very similar in September! She had never ridden a motorcycle before I met her, we went on the bike for the first 10 or so dates! She was sitting on it a month later and wanting to get her own! As soon as I can stop spending money on my bike or other crap she will be getting her own ride!
