Howdy – ok, I want to put mini’s / APES on my 750 Aero – 2006. I “heard” that if I stay with 14’s, I wont have to add extra wires…
So –
Anyone got any scoop to that? Has anyone added minis/apes to their Shadow Aero? Got pic’s…info…comments…???

Try this site... lots of guys with apes over there...

http://www.shadowaero750.com/

Just looking at my set up you might be okay with 14... if you don't have tall risers... I know for a fact if you go with 16's then you will need to switch out... good luck

well I'm half way done... got the wires pulled thru the bars and got the contols on the bars and the bars are on the stock Risers... still waiting on my spike risers... need to finish splicing my wires back to the head light bucket.... the cables should be here this week and I will be good to go... I will make a tutorial on how to do it...

also I think the max you could go on stock cables will be 12 in... you could go with 14in but I think you would bind the thottle cables to much and have them stick on you...? how far are you on your prodject...?

Like the black on the engine covers, did you paint your intake as well? (pic of the right side?)

the only current pic I have is this one... not the best... but my air intake is aftermarket and is chrome... it will be P.C. this winter when I do the forks and wheels... plan on sending in the fender rails, highwaybar and the Air Intake in to be done at the same time...

How do you like that intake? I was considering getting exact one.

I like it one thing is that it comes with a Jet... don't use it... your going to need to re-jet for sure... but most of us already have jet kits on our bikes... I'm runing a 38 main with clip on the 3rd notch, and 2.75 on the mixture... when it was cold I ran it 3 full turns... with cobra lo-boys no baffels...

also the crome screws it comes with suck ass... the crome will come off with just the install... so they rust... I'm replacing all the screws with stainless here soon... I also added a rain sock from Phat Performace... to help keep the rain out and some dust... nice set up for the price... it looks cool and helps the motor breath for sure...

Hey Fowlweather, not to get off subject, but I noticed your spike air intake. It looks like there is a bracket holding it up from the bottom. Did you fab that yourself. If not, where did you get it? I know most of the guys that have that air intake complain about it falling off or bouncing around because of the weight. I would like to buy one, but I want to do my homework first.

the Bracket comes with the kit... if they are having problems with them then they might be doing somthing wrong with the install... you have to cut your OEM rubber boot out of the airbox and stuff it in the New intake bracket... bolt it onto the Jugs with the provided bolts which SUCK AZZ... and then bolt on the intake plate and then the intake.. simple to bolt on... takes about 20 min...

yeah 16's have 4 in and 2 in risers... depends on what mood I'm in...lol... IMHO go tall and get the cables you will not regret it... 12's look cool but 16's are better... cables are spendy... but if you want a low down on some cheap cables let me know will give you a link cheaper than any place I have seen...

Turn sigs are still in the OEM location... they just got small... picked up a set of Pro-One mini bullet sigs and stuffed them between the bags and fender rail...

lookin pretty good! i'm considering getting apes soon on my spirit, but i dunno what size. i was thinking of 13 or 14's with a 1-2" riser. do you have any pics of yours with you sitting on the bike holding the bars? like a profile shot?? how tall are you?

I don't but I will get the wife to snap a pic... my 16 in bars sit level with my shoulders on me with 2 in risers... on the OEM seat... with my touring seat they are lower than my shoulders... I'm 6'2"

Is that bed liner?

it is... went with this direction since it was going to cost me 900.00 to paint the bags to match the OEM paint codes... 200.00 in spray on bed liner was more in my budget...:freak: never have to wax my bike aigan... :jamming:

Nice Jake!!, love the apes, if I wasn't so lazy I'd have a set on my C2 and Aero, just can't get up enough interest to swap out all the cables.....

tahnks for the pics jake!! MUCH appreciated!! i think the 16's would be a bit too tall for my liking, i think the 12's would be it for me w/ 2" risers. thanks again bro, and sweet lookin ride!! you gunna paint the front fairing to match the textured paint
?

Thanks Bro... it was a fun Mod... learn as I went... I'm building a set of apes here in the next month or so and will have to do it all over agian.. :knife: the cable swap was easy just running the wires inside the bars was the pain in the azz... if you go tall its not cheap... cables cost more than the bars and risers...

No problem... if you go with 12's then you can run your cabels behind the TT and not have to shell out the money for the cabels...

don't know yet if I'm going to have the fairing painted to match... was thinking of having it flat blk and adding some pinstrips...? it not on the bike much just when its cold or for long rides... sure did love it this AM when it was 12* and I had 50+ miles to go to work...:jamming:

sweet deal! i think i'm going to go as cheap as possible and build me a set of z bars. i'll run some wiring thru each side while i weld each section so that it's easier to pull everything through. but the main difference is that i'm thinking of welding up some 1.5" tube so i can have some big ol fatty z bars!! i might make the center section smaller so i can fit it to some stock ace risers if i can find them!

sounds kind of what I'm doing also... I'm making a set of 45* z-bars... the main pipe is going to be 1.25 but will do 1 in for the risers and controls... noting special just want a set of bars with 2 in of pull back vs 6 to 8 in... I really want a set of Mother F-er's Z bar apes but I'm not going to shell out that kind of money for them just to turn around and have them P.C. blk to match the Bike...

I made they z-bar Drag bars when I 1st got the bike... it was fun trying to mirror the angles...lol..
