I'm getting a little tired of tearing the carbs out of my bike to do trial an error jet changes. I've got 2.5" straight pipe exhaust and a new giant air intake. I have 170 main jet and 142 pilot in it right now. Above 30 mph she starts to miss and I can't turn the throttle much more than idle or it cuts out. If I run with the choke on it seems to run a lot better, suggesting I'm getting too much air not enough fuel. When I taped over all but a couple square inches on the air filter it ran well. If anyone out there is running with a wide open air intake I'd appreciate any tips on jet selection. It's a 93 vt1100 if I hadn't mentioned that. I know there's a carb expert out there somewhere!

Your right , sorta....your mains to large unless you drill your vacuum slide to let in more air....or just down size your main cause right now your getting way to much fuel to air and it's causing you to run way to rich...thats why your bogging down in your upper throttle band., without drilling your vacuum chamber try a 162-164 main with your needle at the second from top. and set your A/F with that 142 at 2 3/8 turn out as a base.
Your slow should have been the 145...you said you had a 142....if anything the 145 will probably be to lean with open 360* air I'd switch to a 148 slow.

1-800-869-0497 - Factory Pro. Just tell what you have/want and they'll do the rest, once you pay em.

I finally sorted out my jetting issues and thought I'd post what I ended up with. I am running 180 main jets and 48 pilots. She pulls hard through the whole rpm range. Eliminated all the backfiring on deceleration too.
