hey, i got some 32-11.5-15 Cooper Discoverer STT tires that would look great on there. They only have 6000 miles on them and still look brand new. Only 2 1/2 months old when i took them off my truck to sell it.

Those tires would look sweet on there. I've got a set on my Z71 and I can tell you they will grab like hell, just keep 'em rotated.

All it needs now is a 6" coil lift, D44 front, D60 rear, Atlas x-fer case with twin stick shifter, a little fender trimin', 38" tires, full cage and a winch. :cool4:

Seriously though, nice looking Jeep. Hard to find one that old in such good shape and so few miles.

thanks guys. i am getting ready to a complete maint on it.

750, tanx but no tanx. those would be to small. this thing is goin to get a 4" susp lift with the leafs moved over axle. so with a total of 6-7" lift. so with that it will sit on 35 MT's.

DC. yeah she will go ridding but in seperate directions.lol. i am actually thinking of selling my 01 dodge ram and getting my own jeep. i would keep it but its 2wd. its her old truck. but i have to do the upr and lwr b-joints and a p/s pump. then i'll either sell it or trade it.

pics of the wife???? no. she won't let me.lol yet...

Nice clean Jeep man, mine is a 1988...looked a lot like yours when I bought it 4 years ago. I have a 3.5 BDS susp lift, one inch body lift, axles under and I have 35 MT's with all kinds of tire clearance...don't even need the body lift.

Yes it's mine, was basically stock when I brought it home, but of course, I couldn't leave it that way...It now has a custom rear bumber with tire carrier done by my brother and I. Plus a poison spyder roll cage, and rock sliders. This summer it's getting fuel injection.....It's an addiction...like the bikes:cool4:

Thanks. Its got a 3.5" rubicon express super flex lift and JKS adjustable trackbar, and I have 1 ton steering to install. Bunch of other stuff too. I'll be getting a winch for the bumper soon, and a rear bumper with spare tire carrier.

4" lift springs are way too much to do a SOA on a Jeep, that'd be more like 8- 9" of lift instead of 6-7. it will be way too tall... trust me. you could fit 38"s or 40"s with 4" lift springs on top of a SOA. stock springs or some RE stock height sprigs are common for 35"/36" tires on a SOA.

if you are going that big your jeep is gonna hate you with stock gears/axles. the axles are too small and the stock gears are horrible... esp if you have the 4 banger.

2pwrlftrs4u
04-08-2009, 09:52 PM
here's mine with 4" YJ springs still spring under. i am running 36' IROKs.

i'd stay SUA if i were you esp if she's gonna drive alot. there's tons more to a SOA than putting springs on top of the axle. steering, axle wrap, drive lines, ect...

you can grab a set of cheap TJ flares (97-06 Wrangler) and get a few more inches clearance front and rear, that in addition to 4" lift springs will clear 35" tires on a YJ/CJ

2P,thanks for the tips. i am new at this. all i've ever modded were cars and bikes.

and it is not a 4cyl. it has the 4.2 carbed. i'll prolly just do the sua with a 4" lift. R/C has them @ apretty good price. its not gonna happen overnight, but i will keep u guys updated.

i love how this turned into a show me urs post. its cool. keepem comin. some nice rigs up in here.

he's correct on this, in my Dodge Dakota i had 3.55 gears and a 5.9 (360) and i still hated it when it came to any uphill climb or rock climb. Then i changed the gears to Yukon 4.56 gears...that was one bad little truck then.

With mine, I didn't want it real high, so I just did the longer shackles (easy job). As for that engine, my advice is, if the carb is good and working right, DON'T mess with it, they can be pretty tempermental. A K&N filter is a good investment too. My .02.

actually i'm buyin a new carb for it friday, its shot. i allready had to put a new fuel pump on it. along with the K&N. its funny. i had to buy to fuel pumps for 2 diff rides in 1 weeks time.lol.

cool man... for the 4.2 that stock carb is commonly known as garbage. if you can get a MC2100 (old ford 2bl) it'll pep it up alot... there's a guy on ebay that will custom build a carb for ya. worth it if you dont wanna do it yourself. DUI ignition would be my next suggestion if you wanna keep that .258 under the hood. after that i added a borla header... 4.0 head/cam and wished i'd just did a 350 swap from the get go lol. for a 6 banger it had tons of low end torque.

i will find you a write up on the TJ flare swap. strogly suggest it for any CJ/YJ.

but i'm not goin go to to crazy, unless she wants to do all the power mods. i am also buying a stock replace full exhaust this weekend. she not interested in power. she just wants it run good and look bad ass hell. i will be doin gear swaps if it is called for. it depends on what she wants for a lift.

gears gonna be a must w/35's (i run 4:88's)

if you do that lift and keep stock gears you can prolly tolerate 33" tires.

google "weber" swap/replacement on a jeep and you'll see what i am talking about as far as the stock carb.

good luck. i bet the wife will be happy as hell to be cruising topless this summer
