I don't feel the need to dress the part; I just wear whatever I happen to be wearing when I decide to ride.

I've worn packers for better than 40 years now, have to. I've shattered 1 heel, broken both legs, shattered my fibula and fractured both ankles. So I have to wear a boot that has real thick leather that I can lace up 10-12", that literally wraps my feet so I can walk with minimal pain.

Some cool sites there. I have been thinking about boots too. All my friends bug the hell out of me that I ride in my running shoes but the real reason I would get some boots is the weather proofing on my running shoes sucks ass.... Hard to find a god set of waterproof runners these days.

Your running shoes will really suck ass if you have the misfortune of meeting the pavement. They'll fly right off and your dogs'll look like ground beef.

Well, there is that too. I just plan on NOT meeting the pavement. Easier that way........
Kinda like I planned on NOT meeting a tree out mountain biking but that didn't go so wel either.:pirate: Wore a patch for damn near a year....

I have these in brown. Liked something higher up so when I stretch out my leg the boot is between the back of my calf the peg....much more comfortable that way....then again forward ext would also save that problem.....
WTF was I thinkin???:drink:
FS - HD boots good deal....just kidding...

I just wear a pair of black timberlands

i wear red wings there high but you get what you pay for. danner is a very good boot also. for me i would go with danner or red wing. i have had just about everything and i am hard on boots. cheap ones last me about 6 weeks, others like wolverine or timberlands last me about 5 - 7 months red wing and danner are the only ones that i can get any real use out of. but of course i am very hard on them and i know that. good luck with the search. by the way i don't just ride in them so i know that has a lot to do with it.

I ride Danners or Rockies myself. Alot of the time, I'll ride in a western style boot, as I ride to and from work and have been on the Horse Patrol Unit for the last year and a half. Just easier than switching back and forth and they are pretty comfortable and provide adequate protection.

Why are you patrolling for horses? Horses never hurt anyone, did they? Sounds like equine profiling to me...

I wouldn't go that far, my wife has been laid up with a broken collarbone for over a month from an "unscheduled dismount" from one of our horses here at the house. Besides, horses give me a bad case of penis envy because of the whole "hung like a horse" thing. That's reason enough to hunt them down. You call it profiling, I call it retribution for years of psychological trauma, endowment issues and my misplaced feelings of inadequacy.:stunned:

I trust you're judgement on that Beak. Probably end up being something Quam will post on here eventually anyway. I still have nightmares just thinking about the whole vaginal hat episode!!

You're probably right. Quam probably has the full length DVD. As sad as it sounds, I'd rather watch Mr. Hands getting nailed by an Arabian than that mess Quam posted (thanks for putting those images back in my head. Damn!).

I have a pair of HD boots that I bought on ebay for less than half the price they want at the stealership. I have to say they are the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever worn. They have a zipper on the side, no laces for easy on easy off.

I wear something similar to that, but it's the Magnum brand. It's what I wear with my FD uniform and I love them. Zipper up the side is great too instead of worrying about tying them.

I've had good luck with Hi-Tec Magnum boots. Protection of boots, comfort of shoes. A lot of cops, military and tactical units wear them.
Quite often, you can find more inexpensive brands that are damn near the same thing, at WalMart. I think they're Wolverine brand.

I go the Wal-Mart route myself too, I've tried bike-specific boots and the soles don't last at all. I walk around a lot in mine, and at work I have to wear low-profile hiking shoes as I have to keep taking them on and off to board the yachts we work on.
I was in New Mexico and got some Ozark Trail boots at Wal-Mart, I have not seen them at other Wally Worlds but they're awesome. Good hiking boot, over the ankle, and pretty resistant to water (and snow!). I wear them on weekends.

USB, that's what we refer to as TMI (Too Much Information)
Most of my riding is to and from work so my only option is a pair of "Uncle Sam's" but I tell you what, once you get them broke in they are more comfortable than any running shoe I've ever owned.

That dog of yours obviously doesn't have any endowment issues! I've always been told that "a little pussy never hurt no one", but let me tell you brother, that ain't no "little pussy"! I think maybe that dog has been hanging around with the bulls, 'cause he's got great big balls to be tacking that pussy. Oh well, what is it that they say, "The heart wants what the heart wants"?

these are what I wear, got them from a local dealer not online. Very comfortable and great traction on wet dry or oily pavment. I know alot of guys on here will disagree with me but dont wear tennis shoes or any lace up shoe when riding. Also make sure your boots are MADE for motorcycle riding, meaning they have a good rubber sole for traction. Ive heard of and seen once when someone was comming to a stop light after riding for awile and go to put his foot down to find his laces had wrapped around the shifter or brake pedal and dropped his bike ontop himself in the middle of a busy intersection.
