I found this really sweet VT800 (which as we know is pretty identical to the 86-87 VT700's) that I thought I'd share. It's got lots of interesting mods done with stock parts from other bikes:

It's in Dutch, but I think this is how it goes:
widened forks with triple trees from a VT600
wider front tire
front fender from a Vulcan
drag bar
custom headlamp
Bullet blinkers
new grips
mini-speedo
new mirrors
forward controls (these are the Grand Canyons that are sweet but they're around $600!)
new exhaust (slip-ons)
shaved seat (seriously shaved seat, is there any cushion left there?)
VT1100 shocks
rear fender from a Harley
fatter rear tire
double cat's eye brake light
So, I'm thinkin, if VLX triple trees will fit the late 80's 700s/800s and I know Highway Hawk and Rizoma make 6 degree raked trees for the VLX, that could be interesting.
